Nigel Twiston-Davies – My Runners 29th 30th October 2016

We called Nigel this morning and he called us back when he had enough spare time! It’s a busy weekend for the yard but he not only gave us Saturday’s thoughts but volunteered Sunday’s for you as well – thanks Nigel…..

Saturday’s Runners

Ballybolley 1.55pm Ascot

“He is a very good horse and he would or will run well but I admit I am worried about the ground being too fast for him, and I intend to walk the track in the morning to see whether or not to let him take his chance. It’s a long season and I see no point in risking him this early if the going won’t suit him but if he does run he will go well, though it does look a tricky race.”

Ballyoptic 2.45pm Wetherby

“He is a really lovely horse and I think the world of him. I let him run over two and a half miles on his return which is really half a mile too short for him but he still won and will have an edge on him this afternoon. It is a hot race and it won’t be easy to win but I am pretty certain he is more than good enough.”

Blaklion 3.20pm Wetherby

“I have always believed that you should never be afraid of one horse, and although I am quite aware my horse has a lot on his plate against Cue Card here I am looking forward to the contest enormously, and I think we can give him a race at the very least.”

Count Meribel 5.20pm Ascot

“He is a better horse than the form makes it look and I am pretty sure he has improved for another summer on his back. It does look a better than average contest but he won’t be disgraced and he will win races.”

Sunday’s Runners

Belmount 2.45pm Carlisle

“Looking for his hat trick now and I’m a hopeful that the added test provided by Carlisle will bring his stamina to the fore, though the extra five pounds does make his life that bit trickier. I won’t be surprised if he wins but it won’t be easy.”

Bristol De Mai  3.50pm Carlisle

“One of those horses who does everything you ask of him at home and almost gets himself fit between races. It is only a three horse race which is always a concern but he has a very good chance today and I am expecting big things of him this season.”

Ballybolley 4.05pm Huntingdon

“I have entered him here in case I have to pull him out at Ascot if the ground is too fast for him on Saturday. He ought to win this if redirected but Plan A  is still to run in Berkshire, so hold your bets until I make the final decision.”
