Nigel Twiston-Davies – My Runners 25th March 2017

Nigel Twiston-Davies Weekly Column

Not as busy this weekend for the Nigel Twiston-Davies string but still a few to talk about so we called him this morning and this is what he told us.

Nigel’s Charity Bet

As always, we’ve given Nigel a £50 charity bet to place on a horse of his choice – and this weekend the money will be on…..

Newbury 4.45pm Saturday
Ginge De Sophia each way best odds guaranteed

Nigel told us “She claims all the allowances in this race and gets seven pounds and more from all of her rivals (before jockey claims), which has to be a big bonus. I was very pleased with her debut effort when second to Lady Mix here, and she has really shown the benefit of that run on the home gallops since. This is a tough race for a bumper and there are any number of serious rivals but she ought to prove hard to keep out of the first three hence I am suggesting her as an each way bet today.”

If Ginge De Sophia wins or places, we’ll donate the winnings to the Injured Jockeys Fund!

Saturday’s Other Runners:

Millicent Silver – 3.25pm Bangor

She won’t run badly at all in this valuable contest but a bit more rain to soften up the ground would give her an even better chance. She rarely runs a bad race and has placed in her last two starts at Ludlow and Exeter, but stamina is her strong point and the more rain the more of a test this would become.

Wicked Willie 4.35pm Bangor

“He sneaks in off bottom weight this afternoon despite having won two of his last three races, and stepped back up in trip he has to have a pretty decent chance to be honest. As you would expect for this sort of pot there are some quality rivals and he is stepping up in class, but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he ran a big race or even won this afternoon.’

The Hollow Ginge 4.45pm Newbury

“I have him in the same bumper as Ginge De Sophia and have to say that I obviously fancy her that bit more thanks to the concessions she gets. He will actually carry the same weight after Tom Humphries claims his seven pounds and is a nice sort for the future and won’t disgrace himself at all, and in an ideal word they will finish first and second!”
