Nigel Twiston- Davies – My Runners 25th February 2017

Nigel Twiston-Davies Weekly Column

A slightly quiet weekend for the normally hectic Twiston-Davies stable, but no surprise there as preparations continue ahead of the Cheltenham Festival

A £50 win bet will be placed with any returns being donated to the Injured Jockeys Fund.

Saturday runners:

Ballykan 3.35 Kempton

“He had a bit of a break after his last run at Bangor and has come back looking fresh and well ahead of his return to action. He may possibly improve for the run but is well worth watching and could even win after finishing fourth here last year, but he does have four pounds more to carry this season but  I am hoping he is still improving”.

Splash Of Ginge 3.40 Chepstow

“He runs here trying to qualify for the Pertemps Final at the Festival and needs to finish in the first six to do so. He has clearly been rejuvenated by a return to hurdles and I am pretty hopeful of a big run here, and he certainly looks my best chance of a winner today.”

Ballybolley 4.30pm Newcastle

“I freely admit that I would have preferred better ground for him today and it may well be that bit too heavy to see him at his best.  He is running here in a bid to qualify for the final later in the year but I can’t really be any more than hopeful in these conditions.”

Corzeam 4.45pm Kempton

“He didn’t jump off on level terms last time and then got interfered with by the loose horse which fired him up too much, and he failed to run his race. I am wary that it could become a habit and although he is decent enough to win at some time, I can only sensibly recommend a watching brief today.”

General Malarkey 5.20 Chepstow

“A nice young horse who finished eighth first time out and will have learned from that experience. He should keep on improving race on race but could need a few more to reach his mental peak, one for the future perhaps but he won’t be disgraced today either.”
