Nigel had a pretty good Perth but was still spitting feathers after the defeat of Ballyandy and assures me he has come back fine, and we have yet to see the best of him over hurdles. We move on from Perth to Market Rasen for Saturday where he has a few interesting runners.
Nigel’s Charity Bet
Muckle Roe 3.45pm Market Rasen 9/2
A £50 bet will be placed on the nose and any returns given to the Injured Jockeys Fund
Thunder Sheik 2.35pm Market Rasen
“A decent sort who has returned from his summer break looking well and he should go close again. He is nudging his handicap limit after wins at Haydock and Newbury last season so I can’t be confident but he should still run a decent race.”
Ballykan 3.10pm Market Rasen
“One look at his form and we can all see that he has been running well over the summer, winning his last two, but he is another who is as high in the weights as he can get, and although I still expect a big run he does have an extra four pounds now which won’t make his task any easier.”
Muckle Row 3.45pm Market Rasen
“I think quite a lot of the son of Westerner and I’m pretty confident there is still some more improvement to come. He is working well at home and schooling beautifully and although this is his first race in six months I couldn’t be happier with him and he ought to be there or thereabouts at the end of the race.”
Gulshanigans 5.30pm Market Rasen
“A bit of a dark horse this one. He is a nice big horse who has done nothing but improve over the summer and I am pretty certain he will win races. This is a tough race to come back in but I am quietly confident he will run really well and I won’t fall over in shock if he wins this bumper on his way to better things. This one has a decent future.”
