Nigel Twiston-Davies – My Runners 22nd September 2016

We called Nigel this morning as promised and after a winner yesterday he was unsurprisingly in a very good mood. He is also really looking forward to this afternoon!

Thursday’s Runners

Moonday Sun 2.10pm Perth

“An improving sort and I do like him a lot but it rained quite heavily last night and I am a bit worried about the ground as he is undoubtedly a much better horse on a faster surface.”

Foxtail Hill 2.45pm Perth

“I do like him and he does jump particularly well on the schooling grounds, but he is returning from a very long absence and although I have put as much work in to him at home as I possibly can there is no substitute for race fitness though he ought to go well enough regardless.”

Ballyandy 3.20pm Perth

“Everyone knows how much I think of this horse and I can’t wait for his hurdling debut this afternoon. His bumper form is top class (he won the Champion bumper at Cheltenham and was fourth at Aintree), and he has schooled really well over hurdles at home. He is a very exciting prospect and I think he can win this afternoon.”

Double Court 3.50pm Perth

“I wasn’t too unhappy to see the rain arrive for this one as he likes a bit of cut in the ground but he does keep going up in the handicap and this won’t be so easy for him with an extra eleven pounds after his last win. He should still run well enough though but I am more hopeful than confident.”

Flying Angel 4.25pm Perth

“I really like him an awful lot and he has been schooling brilliantly at home. His hurdling form is top class and I am expecting him to be even better over fences, I really do think he ought to win this and will be disappointed if he doesn’t.”

Ballymalin 5.00pm Perth

“Although he did really well in bumpers with a win and a couple of places he is really crying out for a trip and this three miles or so ought to be ideal over hurdles. I think quite a bit of him as well and a win here would be brilliant, though it does look pretty competitive.”

Woodfort 5.30pm Perth.

“At the risk of sounding repetitive I like him as well and he will win races but I am a bit wary of the recent rain and as a son of Dalakhani I am a bit concerned that he may not be too happy on the softer ground. One for your notebooks though…”
