Nigel Twiston-Davies – My Runners 19th and 20th November 2016

After calling Nigel this morning to find him out on the schooling grounds we had a good long chat as the stable enters a really busy period that seems to be keeping him pretty busy. He always finds the time to go through his runners for us, and this is what he told us for the weekend coming.

Nigel’s Charity Bet

El Terremoto 12.40pm Haydock Saturday

A £50 bet will be placed on the nose and any returns given to the Injured Jockeys Fund

Saturday’s Runners

El Terremoto 12.40pm Haydock

“He has only had the two runs for me since arriving from France winning the last one at Stratford very easily indeed. I am still learning about him all the time and we aren’t really sure if he will or won’t handle this ground but if he does he has every chance in my view. It is a hot race and won’t be easy but I can’t help but be pretty hopeful about his chances.”

Wood Yer 1.15pm Haydock

“Wins more often than he loses over fences and not many can say that but he has been off since March and although I have him as fit as I can get him this is his best race yet. He handles the going as well as any and it seems well worth having a try at this bigger prize. ”

Ballybolley 2.25pm Haydock

“He has been doing well over fences lately where he would be rated a lot higher, but it seems worthwhile sending him back over hurdles when you see the size of the prize money here. His last run over the smaller obstacles was a fifth to Nichols Canyon at Aintree so he is no slouch, though the ground isn’t guaranteed to help and we are hopeful more than confident”

Sunday’s Runners

Lagavara 1.00pm Uttoxeter

“I really like her and she jumps well on the schooling grounds and is certainly going well enough at home to expect a big run here. She does seem sure to improve for the experience and there are a few unknown quantities to be wary of, but I am hoping for a big run and possibly a winning one.”

Sword Of The Lord 2.10pm Uttoxeter

“It can’t rain too much for this one as he just loves it heavy and it looks as if he may well get conditions to suit him ideally. He has been put up six pounds for winning at Perth in September but I’m still expecting a big run, fingers crossed.”

West Torr 3.45pm Uttoxeter

“Bitterly disappointing last time out when stone cold last but nothing came to light and that was not his true form. I am expecting better here but can’t exactly be confident, though he might go well regardless.”
