Nigel Twiston-Davies – My Runners 14th & 15th January

With a 24% strike rate in the last two weeks Nigel is back on it as far as winners are concerned, and weather permitting he has another pretty busy weekend to look forward to.

Nigel’s Charity Bet

Ballycross 3.35m Warwick – 8/1 Best Odds Guaranteed

A £50 win bet will be placed with any returns being donated to the Injured Jockeys Fund.

Saturday runners:

Foxtail Hill 12.25pm Kempton

“He was a shade disappointing last time to be honest but nothing came to light and I am hoping that track and trip will suit, in which case he should go well again.”

Ballymalin 1.30pm Kempton

“He hasn’t really done anything wrong all season with three wins and a Cheltenham third and I really like his chances this afternoon even though he does have to give weight away to some largely unknown quantities”

Cogry 2.25pm Warwick

“Pulled it our of the bag at Cheltenham in the New Year to win after a battle royal with Rocklander and the pair pulled clear of the third, and he has thrived at home since then. I am hoping he can build on his first run over hurdles in close to three years and he won’t be far away if repeating that effort.”

Scotchtown 2.25pm Warwick

“The younger of my two here and I am struggling to choose between them. He is a nice horse with two wins and a second in his last three races and although inexperienced compared to most, he seems to be improving all the time and the added distance here may well bring out that little bit more.”

Templeross 2.40pm Kempton

“He has to run from one pound out of the handicap but Jamie Bargary claims three pounds off his back and he is in very good heart at the moment. He does need to bounce back from a below par effort last time but he is working well enough though I am hopeful more than confident.”

Ballyhill 3.00pm Warwick

“He does look up against it with Peregrine Run the one to beat, but he has run well all season and will be a lot happier back up at this trip after being a little outpaced over two miles at Kempton. He won’t disappoint but it is a tough race for the prize money.”

Ballycross 3.35pm Warwick

“There is little I enjoy more than running novices in these handicaps and I do feel he is very well handicapped off a rating of 134 with William riding. He is still a maiden over fences but the step up in trip looks ideal as does the track and the going, he jumps well, and ten stone eight won’t be an issue.”

Sunday runners:

West Torr 2.50m Fakenham

“Sadly he seems in the grip of the handicapper at the moment. He tries his best and has been dropped two pounds for his third at Uttoxeter but I can’t be confident about his chances here.”
