Nigel Twiston-Davies – My Runners 12th and 13th November 2016

Nigel seemed a bit hassled when we spoke but then again it is Cheltenham all weekend and he does have a few top horses to train ahead of the big races!

Saturday’s Runners

Ballycross 1.15pm Cheltenham

“What can I realistically say? We can all see my horse is outclassed by Thistlecrack but you should never be afraid of one horse and there is some decent place prize money to be had with £1155 for coming last! That isn’t the plan and I’m hoping he runs well but I’m a realist and I am quite aware of what we are up against.”

Cogry 1.50pm Cheltenham

“He is a very decent long distance chaser and finished fourth in this race last year off a pound higher. Trip and track look ideal and he has schooled well since an annoying fall at the first here last month, and I think he has a solid each-way chance this afternoon.”

Goodbye Dancer 3.00pm Cheltenham

“I’m sending him out for a quick reappearance after a second at Aintree last weekend because he seems in good heart, and while the races are there we have to try. This is a tricky race but he runs off the same mark and he will hopefully put in a big run today as well.”

Arctic Gold 3.35pm Cheltenham

“First run of the season in a very competitive race but he is in good form at home and goes well fresh, so I am hoping for a big run before I decide where to send him next.”

Sunday’s Runners

Ballyandy 12.45pm Cheltenham

“Everyone knows how highly I rate this horse and how upset and surprised I was when he was beaten by Moon Racer on his hurdling bow. He has improved a lot at home for that and gets four pounds from his conqueror this afternoon, and I’ll be very surprised if we don’t turn that around on Sunday”

Flying Angel 1.25pm Cheltenham

“Very unlikely to run after pulling up here on Friday.”

Thunder Sheik 2.25pm Cheltenham

“I thought he ran really well last time when fourth to Hassle at Market Rasen and he may pick up some place prize money here with a bit of luck in this extremely valuable handicap off  a pound less this afternoon.”

Ballyarthur  3.05pm Cheltenham

“I thought he was a bit unlucky last time out when second at Carlisle but he will strip that bit fitter this afternoon and I do think he is well handicapped off a rating of 119. I am hopeful but not confident today but do expect a big run off this rating.”

Woodfort 3.45pm Cheltenham

“He is up for sale if anyone is interested? His last run was a fourth here but that was probably my fault as I sent him back to the track a bit too quickly but prior to that he had won at Ffos Las and has more wins in him. This is as tough looking contest with seven who won last time out but I still expect him to run well and he won’t disgrace himself here. ”
