Friday marks the final day of the Chester May Festival and the ITV cameras are returning for five races from Chester, including the Chester Cup and the Racing TV Handicap Chase at Market Rasen. We’re back with three more outsiders who should outrun their odds. Check out our free tips page for content across all British and Irish racing.
Fame And Acclaim (14-1, bet365) bumped into a well handicapped horse at Nottingham when last seen. That horse re-opposes here but on 6lb worse terms. 93 is a nice mark for this horse on the best of his Irish form and his effort last time signified a return to form. This price certainly looks generous and he should run a bigger race than his odds suggest.
Connections of Cap Francais (7-1, bet365) must be confident of a good run as he appears here under a 5lb penalty gained for his win at Newmarket last time for which he is only due to go up 4lb. The going is currently good-to-soft and this gelding won on his only attempt in these conditions. His Newmarket win was his first run of the season so you would like to think there could be more to come.
It’s Good To Laugh (22-1, bet365) will have plenty to do at the start of the race from stall 15. If there’s a race at Chester in which it’s possible to overcome a wide draw, it’s the Chester Cup over an extended 2m2f. Chester seems to suit him well as he’s two from two there which is a huge plus. Jennie Candlish’s gelding has done well over hurdles so fitness is unlikely to be an issue and this sort of test could suit him well.
