Ascot Champions Day is nearly upon us and as ever, the maestro Aidan O’Brien has a monster team of horses to go to war with on what should be a fabulous day of top class racing. As ever, make sure that you check out out free horse racing tips for the day to day and weekend action. Let’s delve into O’Brien’s main contenders.
Broome and Tower Of London have entries for the race but Kyprios is the leading light for the yard and will be very difficult to beat if he is at his best. A Group 1 winner four times, he had his injury issues bur finished second in the Irish St Leger after a lengthy absence and should be ready now.
Aesop’s Fables is Ballydoyle’s only potential repesentative in the big sprint. The son of No Nay Never ran a career best when third in the Prix de l’Abbaye at Longchamp when last seen but it would be a surprise if he was good enough to win this.
O’Brien could have several runners in this but his big chance has to be Jackie Oh. The daughter of Galileo loves the mud which will be a major help and, she was only narrowly denied by a classy horse in the Prix de l’Opera at Longchamp when last seen. She has major claims.
Cairo has an outside chance in this and will love conditions but Paddington could be O’Brien’s biggest chance of the day. He has had a long busy campaign but he won four Group 1s on the bounce this season and the fast ground was to blame when last seen.
