At the moment, there’s a good chance that Haydock could be called off on Saturday. As a result, we will put all of our focus into Ascot for now. Adrian Wall has picked out two outsiders that he feels will outrun their large odds at the venue. Both runners look drastically overpriced in the market. Make sure you go each-way for that added bit of security.
Great things were planned for I K Brunel early in his career and he really excited Olly Murphy. An impressive winner at Carlisle on debut, he was bitterly disappointing in the Grade 2 Dovecote at Kempton in February 2019.
He went on to win two novice hurdle races after that at Fontwell and Musselburgh and was sent chasing in October 2020. Narrowly touched off on his chasing bow at Fontwell, the third Full Back has really boosted that form line.
Third behind Shan Blue who looks like a very exciting prospect for the Skelton’s at Wetherby, he had his handicap debut over hurdles when last seen at Wincanton. He finished 8th of the 12 runners but ran well for a long way and faded late, never involved.
The seven-year-old has been dropped a further two pounds as a result. With the Olly Murphy camp in terrific form at present, he could be well ahead of his mark.
Down at the foot of the weights, Connor Brace’s three pound claim will be extremely useful as he carries a featherweight aboard Colorado Doc.
He was pulled up at Newbury when last seen, where his jumping didn’t hold up at all and he eventually pecked four out. He is best judged on his prior run at Plumpton, where he ran out a 15 length winner – ultra impressive!
With such a low weight on his back and being a front runner, if his jumping is better here, he might get them all at it in behind. Conditions won’t be an issue and he is extremely lightly raced for a 10-year-old, having raced just five times.
