ITV Racing longshots for Saturday – 40-1, 33-1 and 25-1 tips

William Henry wins the 2018 Lanzarote Hurdle

Saturday’s are always ultra-competitive when it comes to horse racing. We usually have good sized fields and good quality horses taking each other on. If you back favourite’s only on a Saturday, you’ll often have a bad day. So many outsiders win at the weekend and especially live on ITV Racing. You can watch the racing from Kempton and Chepstow live from your couch. We will also try to help you bag a big winner so read on to find out what longshots we are plumping for.

1.25 Chepstow

With the flat eight runners going to post, this looks like a good each way opportunity for MR SHADY to hit the places at a large price. Ryan Mania is riding out of his skin for the past couple of months and takes the mount. On bare figures, he should struggle in this company but there was plenty to like about his run at Wetherby when last seen. Runner-up to a highly regarded runner on that occasion, it was easily a career best performance and he should be able to build on that here.

1.45 Kempton

The slightly better ground won’t be an issue for SAINT XAVIER and he is a former winner here at Kempton over hurdles. Richard Hobson might have a small operation but he has a brilliant strike-rate with his runners in the UK. The gelding twice failed to complete since running a very respectable race in the Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby. Interestingly, the first time visor is applied and that could bring out major improvement.

3.30 Kempton

Nicky Henderson knows what it takes to win the Lanzarote Hurdle as he has won it three times in recent years. Although Nico De Boinville has picked Glynn, do not rule out the supposed second string, THE CASHEL MAN. Down the field in the Albert Bartlett behind Monkfish in March, there were signs that he was coming back to form when 7th in the Ladbrokes Hurdle at Newbury. Let’s not forget that he was a length off Thyme Hill in a Grade 1 in December 2019, so he looks well treated now.
