Inside The Notebook – Week 3 13/12/2016

Another week has already flown by so it’s time to take a look back at the action.  It’s week three of the eyecatchers notebook with it’s usual mix of ones we feel will win next time and others for the future.

Tuesday 06/12/2016

• Silent Steps – Nicky Henderson’s mare really takes the eye physically.  She was a three mile point to point winner in Ireland so it was no surprise that 2m3f at Fontwell really wasn’t to her liking.  A step up in trip and fences will suit but she has plenty of potential over hurdles first.
• Medici Moon – Shaped well from the back on a Southwell track that generally favours those up with the pace.  He needs one more run for a mark for a yard that do well on the AW over the winter. His dam is a 1/2 brother to Dr Red Eye who the stable know well, he looks capable of winning a small handicap or two this winter.

Wednesday 07/12/2016

• Opinionate – Well bred juvenile, he did his best work late on at Kempton on debut when second.  His dam is a full sister to four time Group 1 winner Beat Hollow and for a yard not known for sharp debuts, he looks to have a sound future.
• Constantino – Looked an unlucky loser on AW debut at Lingfield. That was his first run for six months but produced a career best despite being hampered.  Should be tough to beat in a similar race next time out.

Friday 09/12/2016

• Poetic Rhythm – Well supported beforehand, he looked a little sticky with his jumping in the early stages.  He still travelled well into the contest before flattening out close home.  The winner of a Listed bumper, he should have little trouble winning a maiden hurdle.

Saturday 10/12/2016

• The Mighty Don – Probably only a weak novice hurdle that he was runner up in at Lingfield.  That said he lost ground constantly jumping to the right and a trip to a right handed track should see him off the mark.
• Cambodia – Drawn widest of all with the short run to the bend over 7f at Wolverhampton is a tough gig.  George Baker could never find cover and on his first start for seven months, he was always three wide.  Showed decent form in maidens last winter and with that run under his belt, he can find a race or two this winter.
• Life Of Luxury – Probably a weak maiden on debut but the ex Godolphin inmate was backed from 20/1 into 9/2. He had a lot to do, held up in a race won off the front and found trouble in running.  An interesting one to watch next time out.

Sunday 11/12/2016

• Haul Us In – Lucinda Russell’s filly didn’t show much for the immediate future when picking a few off late from the back in Carlisle’s bumper.  She does however look all about stamina (her grand-dam was a half sister to Welsh National winner Jocks Cross) and is one to note when given a trip further down the line.

Monday 12/12/2016

• Margot Fontaine – Tipped up on her debut, she travelled well to a point before getting bogged down on heavy ground.  Her second start here in a deeper field, she ran well to be beaten less than 20 lengths.  A point to point winner, she needs one more run for a mark and will be of interest in small handicaps.
