Tuesday’s racing comes from five meetings, with some good quality action on the docket. The Curragh, Catterick, Chepstow and Bangor are the afternoon meetings, before Newcastle provides us with a twilight meeting on the All-Weather. We’ll have horse racing tips for all five, including a NAP of the Day.
One jockey in blistering form at present is Callum Rodriquez, who has won on seven of his last 19 rides. Newcastle has been a happy hunting ground for him in the last five years, boasting of a £68.70 level stakes profit. He has five rides at the venue on Tuesday evening and two are at strong each-way prices. Find all the analysis below!
The first of his each-way chances is Firby, who is a very inconsistent six-year-old for Michael Dods. His 2021 efforts have been poor on the whole, but Dods has his string in great form and there have been positives to take on occasion. Gaining his sole win off a rating of 63, he’s currently thirteen pounds below that rating.
After missing all of 2020, he made a promising return at Hamilton in July, finishing fifth over a trip that was inadequate. He’s failed to build on that in four subsequent starts, but he’s fallen to a dangerous rating as a result and he’s totally unexposed on the All-Weather. The booking of Rodriguez is a big positive and with the cheekpieces enlisted, he’s a fascinating contender over this new trip.
This fourteen-runner sprint looks devilishly competitive, but Blackheath could be overpriced, again for the Dods/Rodriguez combination. He’s winless since June 2020, but he’s now twelve pounds below that rating and has gone close in two recent starts, including over course and distance.
He was beaten less than a length at Redcar two starts ago, where he only weakened late on, and dropped into this grade last time over course and distance, he ran better than the bare result to finish third. He’s now a pound lower and after just eight starts on the All-Weather, he falls into the unexposed category on the surface. With Rodriguez up, maximum respected is required.
