Cheltenham Festival – Nigel Twiston-Davies’ thoughts for Friday

Nigel Twiston-Davies has horses running at Cheltenham this week and here he shares his views exclusively with myracing.com about their chances and why.

Two Cheltenham Festival winners on Wednesday!

Nigel was in a great mood unsurprisingly after two excellent winners on Wednesday with Blaklion and Ballyandy. Both returned home in good order and are fine this morning, and Nigel may well have a long term Gold Cup contender on his hands with RSA winner Blaklion so happy days indeed! Describing himself as “chuffed to bits”, we quickly ran through his runners for Friday.

Nigel’s Charity Bet

Nigel’s Charity Bet on Saturday was a winner at 14/1 while on Wednesday it was a 5/1 winner!

Nigel’s pick for his £25 Charity Bet for Friday is:

4.50pm Cheltenham (Martin Pipe Hurdle)  – Flying Angel to Win at 16/1

£25 returns £425.00 if he wins which will be donated to the Injured Jockey’s Fund

Friday’s Runners

Major Malarkey (50/1) St James Place Foxhunter Chase 4.10pm

“At the age of thirteen he is certainly a bit of a character and some would say he is old and grumpy just like me! He is inclined to drop himself out given half a chance before coming with a wet sail at the end of the race but he should still run well enough though a win would be a surprise at his age. ”

Flying Angel (16/1)  – Martin Pipe Hurdle 4.50pm

“Although we would have preferred a bigger gap between races he is the best handicapped horse in the race, having been put up a stone for his last win at Sandown but getting in here with a five pound penalty, leaving him effectively nine pounds well in. He hasn’t missed a beat at home since and is still working as well as ever, so fingers crossed for another big run today.”
