8.50pm Crayford 7th October A5 grade

Trapper Vera – Only her second race at Crayford having previously been trained at Newcastle. She has shown enough here to suggest that the track will suit, she has a bit of early but so far she has only got a 23.97 to her credit. She is going to need a step forward for her debut experience if she is to be winning this.

Jolly Ringer – Not renowned for early pace, but it isn’t often that he is kept out of the frame. He won in this grade back in June in 23.81 when he did hits the lids. Will need to improve on his recent efforts to land another win, but he is one for the tricast players.

Sapphire Rose – Marked awkward recently over 6 bends, she has produced a solid trial over this trip since. She is an inconsistent trapper, but does have the odd ping break, including when beating Droopys Nuka back in July. Frame chance if she comes away.

Droopys Dazzle – Eleven weeks out of season, whatever she does here she is going to improve on massively in the next few weeks. She scored in this grade back in July in 23.60 when hitting the lids. That gives her better part of three lengths over anything in the field so she may go close even though she will be better for the run.

Montore Greener – 0/4 in this grade since arriving from Doncaster, she appreciated the drop to A6 level last week when getting off the mark. She clocked a time solid enough to give her a strong shout at this level, but back up in class, she is going to have to ping again to give herself the best chance.

Phat Larry – Has lost his trapping boots since winning at this level in August. He is another for whom a ping break is in the locker, but in a field full of those, he is going to have to be on his toes when the lids open. He is capable of 23.80 when he puts it all together so has to be respected.

Conclusion

On the form book, Dazzle should be a short price favourite but just eleven weeks out of season, that has to sound a note of caution for those looking to have a bet, with her trials post season a good few lengths off her best. Most of this field are much of a muchness with best times all about the 23.80 area, 6 might be the biggest threat if he hits the lids, while 2 and 3 won’t be far away late on with both staying this trip strongly.
