How We Did It

De Dollar Man was the man to bring us the dollars today and he got the Acca rolling in grand style at Ayr. Paul Moloney was in the saddle for Evan Williams and he was sent off a strong 10/11 favourite. He won his bumper at Uttoxeter on debut and followed up in grand style today to win by 7 lengths, a very progressive horse and one to watch out for in weeks to come.

Next up was Billy Bronco, again at Ayr for the same jockey and trainer combination. They made an 800 mile round trip to go to Ayr so it was clear to us that they meant business. However, a win looked unlikely until the dying moments of the race as Elusive Theatre led them a merry dance for 9/10’s of the race. She traded as short as 1.09 in-running but came to grief at the 2nd last with a very tired jump and stayed on the floor. Thankfully she got up and was just winded which was superb news and Billy Bronco was there to take advantage. Were we lucky? Most certainly! He hit 14/1 in-running but we will take it.

The last leg of the Acca was in the last race of the day at Kempton and we were relying on Aurora Gray to do the business. Again we can count ourselves rather fortunate as the 6/5 favourite hit a high of nearly 20/1 in-running on the exchanges but let’s tip our hat to George Baker, what an absolutely amazing ride, he really had no right to win that race. He somehow got the horse right up on the line to land today’s Acca! KABOOM!
