7.31pm Crayford Race Preview 01/07/2017

The first race on the Crayford evening card live on RPGTV features Droopys Nuka, back in the 6 box from where she won her debut. We will have our Greyhound Tips live later on this evening, with coverage on Sky Sports of the final of the Greyhound Derby from Towcester. Let’s have a look at the task that faces Nuka tonight.

7.31pm Crayford 1st July A6 Grade

Lemming Jade – 0/5 record in this grade and yet to break 23.90, she is going to have to pace up better to get involved in the early skirmishes here. She was sent off the 5/2 favourite in this grade last time but got no kind of luck in running. She is going to need more to get involved here but she is still only a pup and has the potential for a little more in the tank.

Ladbrokes Kid – Won in A2 grade in September 2016 but has slipped badly down the grades since. He has won a couple of A7’s this year but they are the only 2 wins to his credit from his last 26 races. He rarely ducks under 3.60 these days on the sectional and will need one of his better breaks to be competitive here, well beaten by Droopys Dazzle last week.

Sapphire Rose – Yet to get her head in front in three races at the track, she has just a sprint win at Longford to her credit in January. She clocked 24.03 in a grading trial but is yet to go that quick under race conditions. She is yet to show bundles of early (3.62 her best sectional) and looks likely to need a fair bit more to live with a few of these today.

Forourenjoyement – Smart pup is coming on leaps and bounds, already a winner in both A8 and A7 grades. She has clocked 24.01 in both of her wins so far, and although that might not be good enough here, she is opens to bundles more improvement and has more in the way of early pace than the inside three dogs so could well get herself in the firing line early once again.

Thats Why – Won in this grade in May when clocking 23.85 but that is the quickest time she has done in close to 30 races, so it is far from certain that she can do that again. She was towed round to a quick time last week when behind Droopys Dazzle but never really looked like landing a blow. She has the odd burst of early pace but she is more of a mid 3.60’s bitch on the sectional so it could be tight with her and Nuka heading into the bend.

Droopys Nuka – Absolutely skated up on her debut in A8 grade when clad in stripes, clocking a very swift 3.55 sectional. She has not come away in quite the same fashion the last twice at this level but those were both from 5. She has shown enough to suggest that she is capable of winning in this grade and now clad back in stripes, this looks a good opportunity for her to get her head back in front again.

Conclusion

If Nuka were to repeat the 3.55 sectional that she produced from this trap on her debut, she would have an outstanding chance in this field. The early pace is in 4 and 5 which does make her task a little more difficult, with very little of early boot on the inside. The 2 would have a big chance on his previous best but recent wins have come at A7 grade and he will likely need those outside to tangle.
