Having developed an interest in racing whilst in college some years ago, James has worked in many areas of the industry, including a stint hiding his face on radio! From 2008 until 2017, he ran a successful tipping service and has had shares in numerous horses including the wonderful Fast Shot. Unsurprisingly given some of the horses he has bought shares in, his punting passions lie in sprint handicaps on both the turf and All-Weather surfaces!

After the brilliance of the Breeders’ Cup, during which we landed 48/1 Acca & 18/1 Double winners, we were hoping for a big Monday to back it up and got exactly that, landing a mammoth 50/1 Early Value Tip winner to go along with our 6/4 Daily NAP and 3 out of 4 winners on the Lucky 15! 50/1 EARLY VALUE TIP WINNER!

Having been backed all the way down to 10/1 in the 2pm at Plumpton yesterday, pre-race hopes of Kentford Mallard running a big one were high and she did exactly that, travelling strongly throughout. Most noticeably, her jumping seemed to be a lot slicker than was the case in three previous starts over sticks and credit must go to the 5lb-claiming Kevin Jones, who got a great tune out of her. They loomed up in the straight and after a solid battle with the runner up, they pulled clear to win by a length-and-a-half from the favourite, Roses Poses. KA-BOOOOOOM, epic bet landed & MRT followers went wild!

We had a lot of questions asking “how did you pick that one out?” and our reply could be “how long have you got?” as it definitely takes a bit of explaining! However, despite being beaten a fair way at Chepstow on her previous start, that was a much hotter affair in which she posted a respectable Racing Post Rating of 90 and it wasn’t going to take a huge improvement on that to threaten some of the Plumpton opposition. Said improvement was always on the cards given her inexperience and, especially, given how much better she could have done at Chepstow had her hurdling not been so bad.

It was speculative to think she’d step forward enough from that performance in one swift go but she’s from a yard who get no shortage of winners and why a few firms had got her priced around 50/1 for a number of hours was hard to understand! With three places on offer and a few horses who didn’t look in contention on the strength of their form lines, Kentford Mallard looked to be a stunning each-way bet at the very least and thankfully she proved to be all that and more. It’ll be interesting to see where connections head next but as far as our Early Value Tip is concerned, it was a super job well done!
