5 Rowley Mile Betting Hints

Frankie Dettori at the sales

Racing return to “headquarters” this week at one of the two Newmarket courses known as the Rowley Mile, home of the 1000 Guineas and 2000 Guineas in early May and one of the finest and fairest tracks in the Country, and with the flat season kicking into high gear, you can find all our horse racing tips online now

With meetings from April thought to November they are one of the busiest racecourses in the United Kingdom but what tricks and tips can Myracing unearth to help us all find a winner or two?

The Pace

Firstly, like most racecourses, there is a good percentage of winners that come from those racing in the front rank or on the tails of the early leaders.

Although there is plenty of room to manoeuvre on the wide expanses of the Rowley Mile those held up seem at a disadvantage here over all distances from five furlongs to a mile and a half.

The Trainers

With a large percentage of the better known trainers based in the town it comes as no surprise to see them ranking highly on the lists here.

East Everleigh trainer Richard Hannon is the man that bucks the trends with 193 winners in total over the years, though Godolphin handler Charlie Appleby (25.00%) tops the strike rate percentages and even shows a level stakes profit.

For the money, Ralph Beckett is your man with over £90 profit to a £1 stake over the years, but you will have to wait a little bit longer to support his runners with less of them getting to Newmarket than the local boys.

The Jockeys

As jockeys come and go I have restricted the figures here to the last ten years and that points us in the direction of everybody’s favourite in Frankie Dettori.

He has come home in front on 124 mounts here for a one in five strike rates but keep an eye out for Mickael Barzalona with his 29.21% success rate from just 89 rides, as well as Richard Kingscote who may not have been the first name that sprang to mind, yet he has proved the most profitable with close to £60 of level stakes profit.

The Sires

Now we are getting to an aspect rarely looked at elsewhere. Some believe in breeding as an exact science, others less so, but facts are facts and Dubawi is the Daddy of them all when it comes to this track with 46 successes from 249 attempts.

Ignoring those with smaller numbers to work with and looking for sires with 30 or more qualifiers and War Front fits the bill with 10 winners from just 34 runners for a 29.41% strike rate.

Money is still the top billing when it comes to these things and Azamour has shown his loyal followers a £67.45 profit over the years from only 8 winners, though patience is obviously a virtue if you are awaiting his runners.

The Owners

Another part of the puzzle often overlooked but as one of the World’s premier racetracks it makes sense to see the top owners targetting their better horses here.

Godolphin top the winners numerically with 159 winners, 95 clear of nearest rival Hamdan Al Maktoum, and also head the profits table with +£96.00 to £1 stakes which came as a surprise, though Mr George Strawbridge tops the strike rates with 25%.
