23/1 Lucky 15 Winner!

Following the 29/1 winner on our Double Tips on Wednesday evening, it was the turn of the Lucky 15 tips to take centre stage. Dubai World Cup is always a brilliant spectacle at Meydan with an abundance of prize money on offer throughout the card and it was out in the desert where we landed a full house on our 23/1 Lucky 15!

How We Did It

Leg #1 – The two mile trip of the Dubai Gold Cup went the way of Melbourne Cup winner CROSS COUNTER (7/4). First of a treble for William Buick and Charlie Appleby, the son of Teofilo was always well-placed tracking the leaders. His stablemate Ispolini got a wonderful seam up the inside rail which put him in pole position, but he didn’t have enough in the tank to hold off Cross Counter, who asserted his class late on to win by just over a length.

Leg #2 – It was the turn of the Americans in the Golden Shaheen on the dirt where the rapid X Y JET (10/3) made it third time lucky in the contest having filled the runner up birth in the 2016 and 2018 renewals. Flying out of stall three, he got the early lead and from there it was always going to be a tall order for something to catch him. Always in control on the front end, it was a comfortable victory.

Leg #3 – Vibes had been very strong surrounding Japan’s ALMOND EYE (6/5) in the Dubai Turf following her impressive success in the Japan Cup when last seen. She travelled all over her rivals and once Christophe Lemaire pushed the button just over a furlong from home, the response was immediate and she readily put the race to bed. A potential clash with Enable is mouth-watering!

Leg #4 – Last up it was the big one, the Dubai World Cup itself. THUNDER SNOW (11/2) made history in becoming the first dual winner following a facile success last year, but it wasn’t quite so straightforward this time around! He had a pulsating battle with Gronkowski up the home straight and led by the narrowest of margins at the winning line to secure Saeed bin Suroor and Christophe Soumillon another win in the race. A brilliant way to bring up 4 out of 4 on our 23/1 Lucky 15! GET IN!!
