1st-7th November is Responsible Gambling Week

Responsible Gambling

Here at myracing we feel that’s it is of huge importance to raise awareness of gambling responsibly and the first week of November is the perfect time to reinforce the point during Responsible Gambling Week, a campaign led by the gambling industry with the purpose of raising awareness as well as encouraging people to learn and talk about:

  • Gambling responsibly in general
  • Measures and online features to help people to gamble responsibly
  • Widely available advice and support

This week, and the campaign in general, is a great platform for people to learn more about how to gamble responsibly and identify if they have or a developing a problem. myracing fully support this campaign and will continue to promote it with added focus during Responsible Gambling Week UK & Ireland.

What is Responsible Gambling Week?

All relevant gambling websites, venues and services provide information throughout the year including many tools and features available to people to help them manage thier gambling. During Responsible Gambling Week the same people will share as much information as possible about responsible gambling and where to find help if needed.

  • A range of Responsible Gambling material has been made available to all the organisations who support the week. This includes:
  • Providing details of where and how to obtain further information and help if needed
  • Highlighting five key behaviours of gambling responsibly
  • Asking questions about gambling behaviour
  • Promoting the Responsible Gambling Week website and social media channels: You can find these on Facebook and Twitter @RGWeek18

Gambling venues will also be promoting the week. You’ll find posters and leaflets to encourage conversations about how to gamble responsibly.

  • Some venues will host special events during the week
  • Online gambling websites will promote the week with banner ads and pop-ups
  • Both land and online organisations will be promoting the week on social media channels
  • Organisations, such as Facebook and Twitter, will also be supporting the week and promoting key messages and materials
  • Key support channel such as GambleAware, the National Gambling Helpline and GamCare will also promote the week as well as preparing for an increased numbers of enquiries

Staff working at those venues and online will continue to be points of contact customers who would like to find out more about gambling responsibly or where to find support if they have any worries or concerns about their gambling.

Training Sessions and Workshops

GamCare and YGAM are leading players in the support network and both provide support around gambling. They’re also running workshops and training sessions throughout the week.

The workshops focus younger people by targeting parents and professionals working with this demographic (teachers, youth and health professionals).

These sessions and workshops hope to provide information that can help young people understand the high risks associated with gambling, the steps they can take to help them to gamble more responsibly and what tools and services are available to help them manage their gambling behaviour.
