Another busy day on Saturday at Crayford with a pair of runners for the myracing.com greyhound syndicate. Droopys Dazzle looks to build on her spectacular win last Saturday on the early BAGS session, while Droopys Nuka kicks off the RPGTV action from the striped jacket from where she made a winning debut. Our greyhound tips will be live later this evening, until then, let’s take a look at Droopys Dazzle’s race at lunchtime.
Reaveys Raider – Kinloch Brae bitch has climbed the grades steadily having started in A8, to get herself up to this A5 level. She has proved better over a longer trip, winning an S2 as well as a 592m maiden open at Harlow back in April. She has been a little flat in a pair of runs since seasonal rest and still less than 12 weeks out, she probably needs another few weeks before she is back to her best.
Come On Popular – A fellow Jim Daly inmate, she was impressive in winning an A6 contest last time, following on from an S5 triumph the time before. This is as high up the grading ladder as she has been over the 380m trip and she will need to be on her toes early in this grade if she wants to put her stamina to good use late on.
Jolly Ringer – As high up the grades as A2 in February following a slick 23.57 win in A3, he has struggled to get a clear run in the main since. He halted the slide two runs ago in this grade, finally able to get himself clear and gets a quick drop from the grader. He is quick to rise but he doesn’t pace up to the bend quite as well as he paces from trap to line so tends to get himself in a tangle. A big runner in this grade though, especially if turning clean.
Park Verdy – Took full advantage of trouble in behind when running riot in an A6 two runs ago, scoring by seven lengths in 23.77. She showed that was no fluke in this grade last time when runner up in 23.66 which was a new personal best at the track. She boasts smart early gears and after just seven runs at the track, there may yet be room for a little improvement.
Droopys Dazzle – Spectacular performance to break her duck last week, showing immense bravery to cut in at the first bend and get clear. She produced her best sectional there of 3.65, including a little bump with the 3 dog so there could be more to come from her with regards to early pace. The grader could have been far harsher on that 23.68 win with a double upgrade to A4 but with lots of early pace in 3 and 4, she won’t have it easy getting on the bunny here, but that win could have her confidence sky high.
Droopys Bride – Another to score in A6 grade last time but this pup was marked awkward in April which is always a concern for one so young. She is not blessed with much early pace but she comes home strongly so it will be interesting to see where she is with regards to Dazzle as they head onto the pickup for future reference.
As a syndicate, we were fully expecting Dazzle to be given a double hike like Nuka was for her wide margin win, so just a single rise was a nice surprise. It isn’t an easy A5 by any means with lots of early pace inside her which is going to make it difficult for her to get such a clear run again, but such was her dominance last Saturday that she is far from out of it in a bid to double up. 4 looks the biggest danger to her if she can clear the 3 at the bend while the 6 will be interesting if turning closer to the pace than is often the case.
