Deauville was second in this race last year, but he does not appear to have progressed since. He warrants respect given his connections and the fact he is the top rated in this line-up, but he may struggle to give six pounds to HAZAPOUR today. Dermot Weld has won four of the last eight renewals of this race, three times with the smart Famous Name, and this three-year-old looked a colt to follow when landing the Derrinstown Stakes at this track in May. He finished a respectable fifth in the Derby last time out but looked a blatant non-stayer there, and as he had previously been considered for the Amethyst Stakes which is run over a mile, the drop back to this trip should not be a problem for him. With question marks over the remainder of the field, he looks the one to beat, especially with Frankie Dettori travelling here for just the one ride.
