Three front runners set to thrive at Cartmel form 55-1 accumulator

Wednesday’s racing comes from a whopping seven venues! Nottingham, Wexford, Ayr, Cartmel, the Curragh, Kempton and Ripon all host action and we’ll have horse racing tips for all the racing.

Cartmel was on our screens on Monday, with the Northern venue hosting it’s first meeting of the season. It’s a unique venue and it tends to favour front running types, especially those with prior course experience. We’ve gone through the card and found three horses who fit the bill and could prove very tough to beat off the front. Find out all the details of the 55-1 accumulator below!

2.25 Cartmel  – Holker Hall & Gardens Handicap Chase

Course specialist would be somewhat of an understatement when it comes to Tonto’s Spirit. Dianne Sayer’s charge has run eight times at the venue, winning on five of those visits. Most recently, he was a course and distance winner on Monday, making all in grand style.

That victory was as game as they come, fending off a persistent challenger who looked to be travelling all over him in the straight. He has to concede a penalty to his rivals today, but he loves this place and should be able to have his own way of things out in front. If they allow him to do just that, he’s going to be very tough to catch, let alone pass.

3.30 Cartmel – Molson Coors Open Hunters’ Chase

Formerly trained by Peter Bowen, Minella Daddy made his debut in the hunter chase sphere when second at Wincanton last month. He was beaten a long way on that occasion, but he bumped into a pair of smart rivals, with eventual winner Keltus winning at Stratford last week.

On paper, this is a much easier assignment. Rated 137 over regulation fences last summer, he’s a classy individual at his peak and he loves to bowl along out in front. Although he doesn’t necessarily need to lead, he’s likely to be given an attacking ride by Josh Barber, who will be aware of the track’s bias towards prominent runners.

If he can run to anything like his best chasing form, he’ll be a tough nut to crack.

4.40 Cartmel – Clifton Arms Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle

Making all to win over course and distance in July 2019, Frightened Rabbit knows what it takes to win here. He arrives in great form too, having finished second on four of his last five starts. Most recently, he went down by just a length in an agonizing defeat at Hexham off today’s rating.

Today represents a well deserved drop in grade for Sayer’s charge, who gained his most recent victory in this grade at Carlisle off a pound lower in late 2019. Although he’s done most of his winning on soft, he has won on truly “good” ground in the past.

This is his easiest assignment in quite some time and he’s back at a venue that will suit his front-running style. With all that in mind, he could be the answer.
