While the majority of eyes will be on the 1000 Guineas on Sunday, there is more interest on the card. The opening card at 1.15 pm features Noble Dynasty, the most expensive yearling sold in Europe in 2019. He cost a cool 3.6 million guineas at the Tattersalls October Book 1 sales. There will be plenty of notebooks bearing his name already but what do we know about him?

Connections

Purchased by Godolphin, he has joined the powerful Charlie Appleby team. They have already been in the winners this week, including with two-year-old, Creative Force. Appleby is a master when it comes to handling those from this age group and has already admitted that the boys are ahead of the girls this year.

Pedigree

By Dubawi out of Allna, it’s a pedigree that Godolphin know very well. This colt’s half-brother is Barney Roy, a dual Group 1 winner for the ‘Boys in Blue,’ The dam herself was a maiden but out of a Group 3 winner so they will surely have hopes of Group success.

Prediction

Just because a horse costs a small fortune, it’s no precursor to success. The story of The Green Monkey is a well-known American tale of woe. Costing $16 million, he raced just three times, a third-place effort the pick of his accomplishments.

Godolphin has had their share of costly failures down the years themselves but with Coolmore the underbidders, can two of the biggest powerhouses both have got it wrong?

Appleby has said, “Noble Dynasty has done some nice work at home…he’s a smart-looking horse. Hopefully, if he wins or runs well we could be looking at Royal Ascot, possibly in the Coventry.”

Win or lose, there will be a huge expectation come Sunday lunchtime. On pedigree, he should be well up to winning a maiden on debut, if he does, the hype machine will no doubt be thrown straight into action.
