1000 Guineas: Tips, Runners & Odds

Newmarket Racecourse

The second classic of the season comes up hard on the heels of the first over the same Rowley Mile. It’s the fillies who get their chance to take centre stage. Much like Saturday’s feature, it’s Aidan O’Brien who dominates with four of the last eight winners and three of the last four.

1000 Guineas Runners

The unbeaten Quadrilateral looks to emulate her sire, Frankel, with glory in a Newmarket classic. She already has a Group 1 win to her credit, landing the Fillies’ Mile over this course and distance in the autumn. That very much sets the standard here.

She got the better of Love on that occasion, that filly a respectable length and three-quarter back in third. She has already had seven starts so there may be others who are open to more improvement for all that she has strong form in the book.

Two weeks prior, Millisle and Raffle Prize fought out the finish of another Newmarket Group 1. The Cheveley Park is over six furlongs so both have their stamina to prove stepped up a quarter of a mile in trip but that level of form entitles both to respect.

1000 Guineas Betting

The unbeaten Quadrilateral heads the market for Roger Charlton at 5/2 with Love for the Ballydoyle team next in at 4/1. Millisle is just a point bigger with Cloak Of Spirits and Raffle Prize the other pair at single-figure odds.

1000 Guineas Tips

It’s hard to oppose the favourite here, already a winner at the top table. The runner-up suffered an accident which leaves her with almost two lengths in hand of Love who is the second favourite here. Given that filly is more exposed than Quadrilateral, it looks set to go the way of the market leader.
