Course Characteristics

Being just over a mile round, it’s one of the smallest tracks in the country and horses are on the turn throughout. Course form is vital and something we always look for when selecting our tips, nimble horses, in particular, do well here.

Draw Bias

An extreme bias exists over five furlongs at Chester towards the low stalls which we have to consider for our tips, it’s even better if a low drawn horse is a front runner. There is less of a bias over longer distances, but you don’t want to be caught too far back as the straight is only just over a furlong.

Feature Races

The biggest race at the Roodee is the Chester Cup, one of the feature handicaps of the flat season. The track also hosts a brilliant May Festival, which includes the Group 2 Huxley Stakes.
