Irish trainer sends one horse on the 900-mile round trip to Carlisle on Sunday

Vintager beat SILVER QUARTZ by over nine lengths in the Hampton Court Stakes at Royal Ascot last month but the latter is backed to reverse that form now receiving four pounds from that rival and with the drop back to a mile firmly in his favour today. This looks a workable opening handicap mark for this son of Frankel, and he arrives here looking far less exposed than many in this field, so should have further improvement still to come. Hugo Palmer’s colt is preferred to Ripp Orf, who came with a late charge to score over this course and distance last week but may not get this run to suit his fast-finishing style.
