2.55pm Meydan Tips & Betting Preview 03/03/2018

IN SUMMARY : Milton would stand a chance here if he sets a more sensible pace but MAZEED looks the one to be on. A course and distance winner in November he has now dropped back to his last winning mark and his recent efforts have been more encouraging.

1 LYTHAM ST ANNES – Good 2^nd here over 6f last month and off the same handicap mark today. Steps up to a mile for the first-time which is an issue but drawn well in stall 3. He is usually best fresh however and this run may come too soon after just a 28-day absence.

2 PATHWAY TO HONOUR – Good win at Abu Dhabi in December. Beaten twice at Jebel Ali afterwards but returned to some level of form when not beaten far in 5^th over course and distance in January. Well down the field again at Jebel Ali last month but the return to this course and distance will help and he is dropping significantly in grade.

3 MISTER PARMA – Stayed on strongly over 7f here in December but could only manage a close 3^rd. That performance suggests that today’s step up to a mile will suit and has won over this course and distance win in the past. Up a pound for that 3rd but this looks a weaker race.

4 SAY NO MORE – NON RUNNER

5 SPRING OFFENSIVE – Bought for 20,000 guineas at the Autumn sales but has been disappointing in two starts on Dirt so far. Beaten 8 lengths over 1m1f here last month and then beaten 15 lengths over 7f later that month. This is a drop-in class today but little on form shown so far to recommend.

6 MAZEED – Course and distance winner in November. Disappointed when stepped up to 1m3f in January but bounced back to form later that month when 3^rd over this course and distance. Was 5^th last month over today’s same course and distance and has dropped to his last winning handicap mark. 

7 HIGH WAVES – Well down the field at Jebel Ali on Dirt debut last month and on his debut for Mike De Kock. This looks a stronger race today and is still on the same handicap mark. Will probably have appreciated that first run back but needs to improve significantly to win this. 

8 MILTON – Consistent on Dirt this winter, he set too strong a pace over today’s course and distance in January when fading into 5^th. Finished 5^th again over the same course and distance last month. Dropped 2 pounds since that run so looks to stand a good chance here if going a more sensible gallop.

9 MOOSIR – Scored back-to-back wins here in December over 7f but has struggled in two runs so far this year. Last of 13 over 6f here in January and then beaten 17 lengths over 6f again last time. Dropped 3 pounds for them efforts and now just 3 pounds above that last winning mark but has a bit to prove now.

10 ALEKO – Well down the field over 1m3f here last month but bolted up over a mile at Jebel Ali after getting dropped 2 pounds. Returns to this course and distance now but has ran well here in the past needs to step up on that Jebel Ali run now however after getting raised 6 pounds.

11 MUTAWAKKED – Making his first start at Meydan today but has ran well twice at Abu Dhabi this year. Both of those runs came on turf however and he disappointed on Dirt debut when beaten over 30 lengths at Jebel Ali. Needs to step forward on that performance to feature here back on Dirt.

12 SERENGETI SKY – Expensive purchase at the breeze-up sales for Goldolphin in April 2016. Just the 1 win for them and was off the track for 493-days before making his debut on dirt at Abu Dhabi in January. Only managed 12^th that day however and struggled back at 6f at Jebel Ali last time, has a lot to prove on them performances.

13 SIMPLE ATTACK – Just 1-12 on dirt and that win came back in February 2017 at Jebel Ali. Returned to for at Abu Dhabi last month but that run came on turf and difficult to recommend back on Dirt. Has had just the one start at Meydan but was beaten 17 lengths.
