IN SUMMARY: DAREDEVIL DAY (6/1) has come down in the weights since his last win in May 2014 but has shown promise of turning his losing streak around on his last two starts and looks good value in this race. Aussie Valentine (8/1) is an interesting Each Way option if bouncing back from a poor run when sent off favourite last time out while Mr Right (5/1) must be feared if turned out the day after winning at Naas under a 5lb penalty.

1 Aussie Valentine – Once rated 100 (and sent off just 5/1 for a Listed race), has been running consistently but looks in the handicappers grasp. Will cope with any going and may be an interesting Each Way option but last time out run is a worry when beaten 25 lengths after being sent off a well supported 11/2 favourite.

2 Canary Row – 31 starts for just 2 wins spread over 4 years, Gary Halpin’s claim of 5lb will help but his 2nd win came off just 82 and a supporting role is likely here. Likeably consistent in general though.

3 Pullman Brown – The outsider of the field on paper, this 8 furlong trip is unsuitably short and his last two runs have seen him beaten by over 10 lengths each time. A drop in the weights is needed before he’ll be competitive again.

4 Giant’s Quest – One of two nine year olds in this field, his two flat wins have come over two mile trips and this is a surprising drop back in distance for a horse rated 129 on the flat and a 2 mile 6 furlong hurdle winner on his last jumps start in July 2014. Unlikely to feature over this trip.

5 Plough Boy – 33 starts at the age of just 5, he can be frustratingly inconsistent. He ran very well at Listowel last time out off the same handicap mark. This is the highest mark he’s ever had and there are less exposed rivals to face today.

6 Mr Right – A winner at Naas on Wednesday 22nd, if he’s turned out quickly under a 5lb penalty then he’ll hold every chance following a string of good runs but he’s had a lot of racing this year already.

7 Daredevil Day – One of the more exposed horses in the field, he won back in May 2014 off 82 but has struggled since. His last two starts have seen improvement and with Pat Smullen booked and a mark of 76 this could be the start of a resurgence .

8 Burning Bullet – Just two starts to his name – one a win – and represents high class connections. Will strip fitter for his April reappearance but didn’t settle that day and the form of his debut win looks weak.

9 The Tulip – Followed up promising debut for Edward Lynam with a win at Dundalk when looking green and needing the whole 10.5 furlong trip to pull clear with a debutant. The handicapper reacted by giving a mark of 82 and with the drop back in trip not certain to suit looks more one to keep an eye on for future races.

10 Hurricane Twister – The second nine year old in the field, his 3 wins have all come on Heavy and he’s yet to win on any other ground in 26 attempts. Ran a promising race in very similar conditions last time out but from one pound out the handicap is best watched.
