Seven furlongs the trip facing this full field of juveniles as they chase a first prize of just under £2.500. Our expert tip and runner by runner preview are below.

IN SUMMARY: Eesha Beauty improved on her debut run when third at Windsor earlier this month and should be going close here. That said, amidst the greenness MOXY MARES showed bundles of promise on debut for Daniel Loughnane and should improve sufficiently to take this under Steve Drowne. The penny dropped late on for him on debut at Doncaster and with improvement almost guaranteed, he should take a lot of beating here.

1 ANOTHER DAY OF SUN – Already had six races, getting off the mark on the second attempt at Thirsk. He has experience of this surface which will stand him in good stead, a close third over six furlongs last time. He struggled his first time over this trip at Newmarket, easing in the final furlongs when beaten. He shaped as if an easier seven such as this would suit but he carries a seven pound penalty and the Mick Channon yard are in the midst of a quiet spell.

2 STAR OF ZAAM – Like the top one, he is a one time winner from six starts so is shouldered with the same seven pound penalty. He has shown a little more consistency in his six races, four more times hitting the frame. He has almost the worst of the draw to contend with from eleven, an issue given his usual prominent racing style. His improvement has plateaued for now so he is worth taking on.

3 GRIPPER – Already gelded, he only got to £1,800 at the sales when returned to vendor. He has a stout looking pedigree, his dam a winner over a mile and a half so he is going to be more one for handicap further down the line over middle distances in 2018.

4 MERKAVA – Showed plenty of promise on his debut, he failed to go on from that when trying this Tapeta surface at Newcastle. He shapes as if the step up to this seventh furlong will suit him but is another who looks as if he will benefit from having a handicap rating after this run.

5 MOXY MARES – Shaped with bundles of promise on his debut at Doncaster when third over this trip. He looked green when put under pressure on that occasion but stayed on well as the penny began to drop. His dam was a sharp juvenile in France so it’s not a surprise that he showed promise first time up. If he can build on that run, he looks a big player in this line-up as that form is about as strong as there is in the field.

6 OJALA – Showed a little more at the second time of asking, staying on at the end of six furlongs at Windsor. His dam is a half sister to Sole Power, from a smart sprinting family but this colt has not received the family speed judging on his efforts thus far. The step up to seven furlongs looks in his favour and he is one to consider from an each way perspective.

7 SEABOROUGH – Another to be gelded before he sets foot on the racecourse, he has a muddling pedigree. His dam showed solid form as a sprinter as a juvenile while his sire was two lengths behind Camelot in the Irish Derby. Seven furlongs is probably the right starting point for him but he doesn’t appeal much as a likely winner with the yard 0/21 with juveniles on sand in the last five seasons.

8 TIPI – Very cheap purchase, he has already been gelded. His grand-dam was a smart sprinter but his dam has already thrown hurdles winner Lexi’s Boy so he is another for whom his perfect trip is rather clouded at present. Charlie Wallis is yet to have a juvenile winner from eleven runners so he is best watched on this occasion.

9 TOMMY SHELBY – Showed a little promise on debut at Ayr, plugging on at one pace over six furlongs. A mile to ten furlongs should suit next season so it’s no surprise to see him stepped up to seven on this occasion. He should be sharper for that initial experience but there are others who have shown more in opposition.

10 CALVIN’S GIRL – Outpaced from an early stage over five furlongs on her debut, she failed to beat a rival home. There is plenty of speed on the dam side of her pedigree so her lack was a little surprising. Her sire won over ten furlongs so perhaps the step up in trip will benefit her but she is impossible to support.

11 EESHA BEAUTY – Didn’t show much on debut but she stepped forward considerably on that at the second time of asking. The way she hit the line over six furlongs at Windsor suggests that this step up in trip is going to suit her. Her full brother is only rated 64 but he has shown solid form at Class 6 level over a mile and ten furlongs. She has an each way chance but will be better suited to going handicapping after this outing.

12 LAYTOWN – Would be an appropriate winner just a few days before the famous meeting she is named after, especially for a yard who have hit the frame at Laytown with four of their six runners. Her dam was placed over a mile as a juvenile so seven furlongs seems a sound starting point for this filly. Her dam’s half sister was a multiple Group 3 winner so she is worth keeping an eye on in the market for a shrewd yard.
