6.30pm Sedgefield Tips & Betting Preview 25/08/2016

Our race preview takes a look at a Novices Hurdle at Sedgefield. See our betting tips below to find a horse who is hitting top gear and can notch up a 2nd win in this sphere.

IN SUMMARY: Trafalgar Rock is now 2-2 over hurdles after being a fair flat racer and his claims are obvious. However, although its taken MIRO quite a while to get his act together over hurdles, he’s run well the last twice in Ireland and can provide Gordon Elliot with another success. He looks much better weighted than the former and has the assistance of Richard Johnson to help push him over the line.

1 TRAFLAGAR ROCK – Fair flat racer for Mark Johnston and has done well over hurdles winning both his starts, latest when holding on grimly after giving the final fence quite a smack at Worcester (20f, Good). Claims are very obvious after those victories but seems high enough in weights against a few of these and may well struggle to complete the hat-trick.

2 WAZOWSKI – Won a weak Hexham Novices Hurdle with complete ease in June (16f, Good to Soft). Didn’t exactly follow up when a very poor 6th on handicap debut at Worcester (20f, Good to Soft), and its quite hard to weigh up where his current ability is, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if he was to figure.

3 MIRO – Wasn’t exactly an instant success over hurdles but got things on track when finishing 3rd at Kilbeggan (16f, Yielding) behind a subsequent winner. He then progressed to win at Downpatrick over a slightly longer trip (18f, Good) and may well have more to give now switched back over to England for the first time since competing on the flat. Seems to be weighted well against Trafalgar Rock and with the assistance of Richard Johnson will certainly give this a very good go.

4 KIWAYU – Decent flat horse for Kirby of recent, but hasn’t been seen over hurdles since being pulled up twice in 2014. Hard to way up his ability after that long away and can’t be backed with any confidence.

5 SPINNING SCOOTER – Poor in bumpers and was a tailed off 6th of 7 at Perth on Saturday (16f, Good). No where near enough confidence to touch.

6 GRAN PARADISO – Has hit the frame on both hurdles start, latest when unable to go with 2 well backed horses at Market Rasen a few weeks ago (20.5f, Good). Judging by that form he wont be very far away and has Finian O’Toole taking off 7lb, so there are quite a few positives, each way claims atleast.

7 SILVER TRIX – Really struggling to land a blow in her starts over hurdles, latest when tailing off at Cartmel in a pretty weak Maiden Hurdle (17f, Good). Hard to see that changing and passed over easily.

myracing Forecast Prices: 6/4 Trafalgar Rock, 9/4 Miro, 5/1 Wazowski, 13/2 Gran Paradiso, 16/1 Kiwayu, 50/1 Spinning Scooter, 50/1 Silver Trix
