6.20pm Lingfield Tips & Betting Preview 17/06/2017

This is a Class 5 handicap over 1m 2f, see our betting tips and the full race preview below.

IN SUMMARY: This is an open contest and the vote goes to MONSIEUR GLORY. He was ridden too far off the pace last time out and he will benefit from a more positive ride today under Pat Cosgrave. He’s on a fair mark and he could attract some strong market support in this. Ya Jammeel will be dangerous if he improves upon from his decent third last time out whilst Arrowzone is likely to pop up sooner rather than later.

1 HARD TOFFEE – Showed clear improvement last time out to finish fourth of seven having been beaten 24 lengths at Kempton previously. He’s dropped back in trip today which is a slight concern given both of his career successes have come over further and a mark of 71 looks high enough for Conrad Allen’s runner. The stable have been quiet of late, without a winner in the past fortnight and others make more appeal.

2 MONSIEUR GLORY – Has run a couple of respectable races in this grade for Tom Clover having been transferred from the Tom Dascombe stable over the winter. There was plenty of money about for him last time out when sent off the 9/4 favourite and he was just a bit too far off the pace that day having run on to finish fourth. Pat Cosgrave takes over in the saddle today which looks positive and he could be set for a big run in this.

3 BLUFF CRAG – Inconsistent sort who was beaten 31 lengths last time out which was disappointing having gone close off a pound lower two starts ago. He looks fairly treated at the weights although he remains 3lbs higher than his sole career success and he isn’t the easiest to win with. There continues to be market support for him but he needs to deliver more and may be best opposed today although the yard are operating at an impressive 21% strike rate at present.

4 ARROWZONE – Without a win since early last year and he’s become regressive since late last year having slipped right down the weights and grades. That leaves him 16lbs lower than his last winning mark but he’s been sent off no shorter than 33/1 in five starts for Kevin Frost and the horse looks to be struggling badly. Market support would be significant but he has serious strings attached in this.

5 MR ANDROS – Second start for Brendan Powell today having run no sort of race on stable debut at Newcastle back in March. He’s been given some time since then and a mark of 69 shouldn’t be completely beyond him having shown some form in maidens as a 3yo. He looks like he may need more time although he is stepped up in trip which should help and Martin Dwyer is a positive booking. Another worth close attention in the betting.

6 TRIPARTITE – Has run with credit at Chepstow on his last two starts which has seen him finish second and third respectively. He’s back down a pound today which is fair and he’s now 2lbs lower than his last winning mark although he steps right up in trip today which raises slight doubts about this speedy son of Zebedee. The yard are without a winner from their last 12 runners and others are preferred today.

7 YA JAMMEEL – Ran a nice race on stable debut last time out at Haydock. He’s turned out quickly today in search of his first career success having only raced four times to date. He showed some ability last season for Richard Fahey before being sent to Germany where he didn’t race once. The yard have a 13% strike rate at present and this step up in trip should suit him perfectly. In with a decent chance today with a more suitable trip ahead of him.

8 IBALLISTICVIN – Brings some good winning form into this race albeit in a lower grade. He won three times as a 3yo last season and he tries a Class 5 handicap for the first time today which will test him more than many of his efforts last season. The trip should be of no concern and he should certainly improve from his seasonal reappearance when he was sent off the 4/1 favourite and there could be lots of support for him in this.

9 AL KHAFJI – Sole success came at Lingfield on the polytrack but that came over 7 furlongs back in November 2015. He’s been comfortably beaten on most of his starts this year although he did show some ability when finishing sixth in a 20-strong field at Doncaster back in early April. He’s down another 2lbs today to a mark that should be workable and he’s tricky to rule out now off a new career low mark.

10 ONEHELLUVATOUCH – Has finished last of on her previous two starts which is disappointing having ended her 3yo campaign with a decent second at Chelmsford which followed a Class 6 handicap success. This tougher grade is clearly proving too much for her at present and she’s been given some time off since the last of her defeats and an eye shield is applied today. Best watched on recent efforts.
