4.50pm Wolverhampton Tips & Betting Preview 11/08/2017

IN SUMMARY: This won’t take much winning and PIVOTAL DREAM can provide some value given he’s back onto his last winning mark. Fran Berry is an interesting booking for this stable for a yard that does have winners at Wolverhampton and he can outrun his generous odds. Beadlam can give him most to think about for the in-form Roger Fell yard coming out of stall 3.

1 BEADLAM – The Roger Fell yard has been in good form of late with a 16% strike rate and their filly won just two starts ago at Wolverhampton over 7 furlongs. She struggled next time out off a 6lb higher mark but she will be more at home dropped back into Class 6 company and switched to the All-Weather. She will be suited by this trip and stall 3 is ideal. Respected.

2 SIR LANCELOTT – Ran just once for Brian Barr at Chelmsford earlier this season, finishing eighth of ten, beaten 6 lengths over a mile. He makes his first start for Adrian Nicholls today off a reasonable mark of 59 and the useful Ben Robinson is booked to ride, claiming a valuable 5lbs. Would have a chance at the weights but he will need to be race fit.

3 FALSE ID – Has slid a further 2lbs in the weights following a modest run at Beverley last time out leaving him 6lbs below his last winning mark. That would give him a chance in this, particularly with the 7lb claim of Finely Marsh which leaves him on an attractive weight. He has to prove he fully stays the mile though and others may provide better value in this.

4 BINKY BLUE – 7lbs below her last winning mark which came over 7 furlongs in a Class 5 event around here early last year. She’s been on the downgrade since although she did run a fine race over a mile at Lingfield earlier in the season off 2lbs higher. She looks well-weighted in this and she needs close market attention although the yard are struggling at present without a winner from their last 14 runners.

5 RAASHDY – Remains lightly-raced for a 4yo making just his ninth start today. His sole success came over C&D on his second start in a maiden last year but he’s gone backwards since then in handicaps. He’s been dropped 5lbs for a last of eight finish last time out and connections leave off the blinkers that were tried that day. Big questions to answer in this.

6 MOLTEN LAVA – Two wins from 26 career starts doesn’t make for great reading and the last of those came in August 2015. He’s now 20lbs lower than his last winning mark but he’s shown very little of late to suggest a return to form is on the cards. He’s stepped back up in trip today but he’s not running with any sort of promise and may find this too tough again.

7 ROYAL ICON – Kevin Ryan’s yard has been flying of late with a 23% strike rate in the past fortnight and he runs a Sixties Icon filly in this. She was tried in first-time cheekpieces last time out which didn’t work and she’s been dropped 2lbs which leaves her on an attractive mark in this with a 3yo allowance. She is yet to break her maiden but she won’t find too many weaker races than this.

8 PRINCE JAI – 16-race maiden making his third start for Ian Williams today following a respectable run behind Easy Code at Wolverhampton last month. He was beaten 3 3/4 lengths that day but that was a massive improvement on previous form and showed a mark of 52 to be workable. There are a few well-weighted rivals in opposition today but he should run well in first-time blinkers. Interesting.

9 BORN TO REASON – Has been left on a mark of 56 following a slightly more promising run at Newcastle last time out in a first time hood. That’s been left on again today and he should go well again although he’s been handed a horror draw in stall 11 so Dougie Costello is going to have to make his mind up early. The race may not be run to suit and others make more appeal.

10 PIVOTAL DREAM – Has won just once from 36 starts which came off this mark in a weak event earlier this year. He’s produced some moderate efforts of late but he could remain fairly well-treated on these terms given he’s back onto his last winning mark and he could provide a bit of value in a weak contest. Interesting with Fran Berry booked to ride.

11 TAWFEER – Wasn’t beaten all that far by Cat Royale last time out and he has a useful 3yo allowance in this which leaves him well-treated with a couple of rivals. He makes just his sixth start so he has the ability to improve so it’s too early to write him off. However, he’s yet to start shorter than 40/1 which illustrates the regard he’s usually held in by the betting.
