4.00pm Newcastle Tips & Betting Preview 14/11/2016

Monday’s feature race at Newcastle is a Division 2 0-85 Handicap over the extended seven furlongs. Read on for our expert betting tips and runner by runner preview.

IN SUMMARY: If able to dictate, LET’S TWIST could have excellent claims in this company as he was able to win nicely from the front at Kempton 2 months ago. Brilliant Vanguard is sure to make it a close thing after his runner up effort at Kempton 11 days ago and off only 1lb higher will certainly give it his best shot. Jordan Sport is also up to winning a race of this nature and the market may provide the best guide as to his chances.

1 Edgar Balthazar – Ran well enough when finishing 4th on AW debut here 10 days ago in which he was held up in a race that was strongly run. Had previously shown only moderate form and has a bit to find with a couple of these but has an each-way shout.

2 Rebel Surge – Has had 14 runs since last winning in a strongly run Maiden Fillies Stakes at Lingfield back in July 2015. Beat some decent horses that day and although only fair form since, has shown some improvement recently finishing 2nd of 14 in a Handicap at Newmarket 16 days ago and place chance on Tapeta debut.

3 Lil Sophella – Not seen on the AW since 2014 and finished only 8th of 9 in a Newmarket Handicap 26 days ago. Had shown form earlier in the summer and very capable rider on board.

4 Jordan Sport – Won an 8 runner race at Redcar readily back in April when trained by Richard Fahey but only fair form in Handicaps since. Move to current yard in June and had his first run last month when only managing 8th although he was poorly placed that day. Hooded for the first time today and the yard is in good form.

5 Kalk Bay – Has won twice this year at Doncaster in April and then again at Musselburgh in June coming off the pace to stay on well on both occasions. Only 10th of 15 in a handicap at Catterick 20 days ago but yard is in good form and makes Tapeta debut today. Place chance.

6 Brilliant Vanguard – Has won twice this year at Pontefract in April (soft) and Ripon (good) in June, both over 6f. Good second of 11 in a Kempton Handicap 13 days ago and makes Tapeta debut today. Big chance on form and his yard remains in good form.

7 Mon Beau Visage – Has been in good form recently with two wins, first at Beverley in September and then here last month seeing out both races well over a similar trip. Struggled last time finishing 9th of 14 in a strongly run affair at Catterick and much more improvement needed today. Yard remain in good form.

8 Jacquotte Delahaye – Has been off the track well over a year and was a well beaten last of 12 to Edgar Balthazar in a Handicap at Ayr last time out. Has an uphill task on return from absence.

9 Funding Deficit – Has shown good form recently having finished 4th to Jaywalker from Rebecca Bastiman’s yard last time out, closing nicely in the final stages and 3rd the time before at Ascot. Looks to have a fair chance on form.

10 Let’s Twist – Made all to score by 2 lengths on the AW at Kempton back in September but slightly below form last time out at the same track. Could be dangerous if allowed to dictate matters.
