3.40pm Yarmouth Tips & Betting Preview 19/09/2017

A field of twelve go to post for the fourth race of the day at Yarmouth on Tuesday afternoon. See our betting tips and the full race preview below.

IN SUMMARY: A six pound rise should do very little to stop SEABORN from gaining back to back victories. He made most at Chelmsford on his final start for Simon Hodgson and has since joined the Tim Vaughan, freshened up with a 222 day break. He’s only six pounds higher and remains fully unexposed, so should take all the beating with conditions to suit. His main danger is likely to be Broughtons Admiral, who was only beaten by an improver from top connections on his latest start and remains on the same mark.

1 RATHEALY – Dual purpose horse for Christine Dunnett who was a no show over both codes earlier this year for connections, well beaten at Southwell on the flat before pulling up over hurdles in March. He now returns form a 172 day absence with plenty to prove and you’d have to take a leap of faith if you were to back him today. Very easy to look elsewhere on this occasion.

2 SEABORN – Well beaten on his final maiden start for Simon Hodgson before winning at 16/1 on Handicap debut at Chelmsford, winning comfortably after making most. He has since joined Tim Vaughan and returns from a 222 day absence, likely capable of better for this yard. A step up in trip will suit him and conditions are also in his favour, so he looks very difficult to beat now that’s he’s freshened up and only off six pounds higher.

4 FORTIA – Has shown very little in three runs thus far for Dean Ivory, making her final maiden start when fifth over the 1m 5f distance at Chelmsford where she was well held in fifth. She should be happier back in distance and has Silvestre De Sousa up on handicap debut which makes her interesting, but she does need further improvement to feature. Her only previous turf start was underwhelming so she has that to prove and others look likelier on this occasion.

5 BROUGHTONS ADMIRAL – Eight race maiden for Henry Spiller who was clear of the rest with a Sir Mark Prescott improver when winning at Brighton on his latest start at Brighton. He was only headed late on and remains on the same mark, which gives him a very big chance in a similar race to his latest start. He is leading player with conditions to suit and has to be respected.

6 MAGIC BEANS – Another eight race maiden, this time for the out of sorts Hughie Morrison yard who bounced back to some sort of form when fourth at Redcar, weakening late on over the 1m 6f distance. On that evidence, the drop back in trip should suit him massively, but there are further question marks surrounding whether he’ll handle the softer ground. He’s an each way player if he does, but that’s a risk to take if you’re going to back him.

7 ABLAZE – No match for Broughtons Admiral at Brighton on his latest start, six lengths behind that rival and she meets him on the same terms today. Connections have added the cheekpieces in a bid to perk her up but it’ll need to spark sizeable improvement if she’s to reverse terms with that rival, who looked to comfortably have her measure that day. She’s an each way player under Jim Crowley for an in-form yard but she should find at least a few of these too good.

8 SEXY SECRET – Three wins from fifty-seven starts for this six year old who is completely exposed versus most of his rivals for Lydia Pearce, well held on all his starts in 2017. He finished fifth on his latest start at Yarmouth when offering no response when headed and although that was a respectable effort, he needs a lot of improvement against some unexposed rivals. Simon Pearce takes off three pounds but it’s best to look elsewhere.

9 BIZET – Twenty-two race maiden who is very inconsistent and was well held despite finishing third at Lingfield two weeks ago, beaten seven lengths. He remains on the same mark in a deeper race and it’s hard to see him improving enough to win a race of this nature with what he’s shown previously. Jack Osborn continues to take off seven pounds but others are readily preferred.

10 MUNGO MADNESS – Another horse whose yet to break their maiden, though this three year old got the closest he’s got yet when thrid at Southwell on his latest start. That says a lot though as he was beaten six lengths and he needs to raise his game if he’s to feature under three pound claimer Shelley Birkett. He’s an each way contender if building on that effort as he’ll handle conditions, but it’s not hard to look elsewhere for win purposes as he’s far from guaranteed to improve.

11 CLEARANCE – Son of Authorized who has shown no form of note in four runs for Mark Thompkins, all but tailed off on his handicap debut at Nottingham in August. He’s only two pounds lower here and with no evidence to suggest he’ll be winning races anytime soon, he’s readily dismissed.

12 DRAGONITE – Another very modest maiden, this time for Daniel Loughnane who produced his best effort so far when a five lengths third over the 1m 2f distance at Brighton on his latest start. He plugged on that day and could be suited by the step up in distance, though that isn’t guaranteed. Cut in the ground is a further unknown and there are plenty of questions for him to answer today.

13 SEVENTII – Produced a career best effort on her sixth start when fourth at Brighton in August, only headed at the furlong marker. She didn’t however back that up when well held at Chelmsford three weeks later on the all weather and she has plenty to prove considering she was struggling to beat rivals prior to that Brighton effort. Others are readily preferred on this occasion as she’s too inconsistent.
