3.40pm Newcastle Tips & Betting Preview 03/01/2017

Only 6 go to post for the fourth race of the day at Newcastle, but this promises to be a very interesting handicap with a few of these putting improved performances in of late. See our betting tips and the full race preview below.

IN SUMMARY: Far from an easy race over C&D latest, WOODACRE reared at the start and was blocked at a crucial stage on his first attempt at this distance. Although a 10 year old, he’s still unexposed at this distance and is an intriguing proposition today if managing to break well from stall 6. It will of course be difficult to beat Go George Go who is 3-3 at this C&D and is showing no signs of stopping at present, but his good run has to end at some stage.

1 WOODCARE – Had a far form easy race here over C&D in November, rearing as the gates opened and then being short of room at a crucial stage. Has been given a break and should be able to build upon that effort as it was his first attempt at 1m 4f, so has to have a leading chance today.

2 HENPECKED – No match for Go Geroge Go here over C&D last month, giving that rival a huge amount of weight. Meets him again here today on better terms but doesn’t look likely to turn him over and has place claims at best.

3 ROCK A DOODLE DOO – Has a huge amount to prove despite a record of 4-5 on the all weather, as his last start on the all weather was in July 2012. Regular cheekpieces removed for today’s outing and probably will need this run after nearly a year off the track.

4 BAMAKO DU CHATELET – Justified market support at Lingfield when winning well in December (1m 2f, Std), his second win over that C&D. Still fairly treated off 3lb higher and has to have a huge chance today if building upon that effort which is likely for the currently inform Ian Williams team.

5 SUMMER COLLECTION – A maiden after seven races and was 8 lengths behind Go George Go at Newcastle over C&D two weeks ago. Unlikely to be able to reverse that form but might be able to do something about Henpecked this time around, so has place claims.

6 GO GEORGE GO – Big improver of late over C&D, winning three times on the bounce in convincing fashion. Still looks well weighted today and is likely to be hard to beat if improving again, but a four timer is not an easy feat to achieve. Still highly respected nonetheless.
