3.30pm Ayr Tips & Betting Preview 19/12/2016

7 runners go to post for the final race on Ayr’s Monday card, a competitive looking bumper. See our betting tips and the full race preview below.

IN SUMMARY: Better Getalong ran a nice race to finish 2nd on bumper debut at Huntington last December and should have come on for that effort so has to be respected. However, SAM’S ADVENTURE has run two brilliant races in bumpers thus far, winning both and showing a brilliant attitude to hold off all challengers in game style in a valuable bumper at Newbury back in March. He should have come on for his summer break and with the Brian Ellison yard in brilliant form, he should have too much class for this field.

1 SAM’S ADVENTURE – Twice raced in bumpers winning both, the first time at Wetherby in heavy ground conditions (2m, Heavy) and the second when gamely refusing to lie down at Newbury back in March. (2m, Soft).  The Newbury race was a valuable bumper and the form has been boosted since, with him having horses such as Bags Groove and Cultivator in behind him that day. He already has form on heavy ground which is a huge plus and with the horse being held in some regard, he should run very well today for the inform Brian Ellison team.

2 BETTER GETALONG – Not seen since since December last year but displayed promise finishing 2nd to the subsequent 5th in the Champion Bumper at Huntingdon (2m, Soft). He was staying on all the time in what was a solid effort and this E85,000 purchase should have come on from that run despite the absence. The Nicky Richard’s yard is in great form at present and he should run his race.

3 CEEGEM – First run under rules and will need further than this in time judging by his pedigree, the Lucinda Russell yard wins its fair share of bumpers, however the yard has hit a rough patch which is concerning. Worth a market check.

4 GOLIATH – £13,000 newcomer from the Tristan Davidson yard that is 0-7 in bumpers which dampens his appeal. Pedigree isn’t too bad but he’ll need further in time (around 3 miles) so probably best watched today.

5 OSWALD COBBLEPOT – Related to a bumper winner and some useful types for the Nigel Thomas Slevin which have a 25% strike rate form these races from 4 starts. Could be competitive but will need to be fairly useful to trouble the market principles. Place claims.

6 TRONGATE – Pulled up in a Point to Point back in April which is of concern and most likely best watched today.

7 VICTORIA SAYS – Finished 7th of 8 in a bumper at Navan last month when always in the rear and never getting involved. Will probably have come on for that run and is worth a market check but is unlikely to trouble the market principles today.
