3.00pm Lingfield Tips & Betting Preview 28/02/2017

A very competitive five runner handicap is the third race of the day at Lingfield on Tuesday, see our betting tips and full race preview below.

IN SUMMARY: This is a highly competitive race and a case can be made for all of these, but none more so than BANDITRY. Winning on all weather debut at Chelmsford in October, he has run two solid races over timber since then and he returns to the level with race fitness under his belt. A lightly raced five year old still full of potential, he is likely to brush aside a 5lb penalty for that latest win and continue this fine spell for Ian Williams with Stevie Donohoe taking the ride. His likely main danger will be Sennockian Star, but he may just be found out by the drop in trip today.

1 SENNOCKIAN STAR – Gained his third win of 2017 when winning here on Saturday (1m 4f, Std), a well earned and hard fought success. He is entitled to be in the mix despite a penalty and the shorter trip, though all his wins have come at the longer trip this year which is of concern. Likely to need more despite Mark Johnston and Joe Fanning being in excellent form. May just find one too good today after a very busy period.

2 COIILLTE CAILIN – Two wins from her last four starts and posted a career best when third at Wolverhampton on her latest start (1m 1f, Std), beating Sennockian Star in the process. Remains on the same mark today and is much better off with that rival this time around. Still seems to have some improvement left in her for David O’Meara and as a previous C&D winner she is likely to run another good race under Martin Harley. Has to be respected.

DUTCH UNCLE – Gained a well earned win on his latest start at Wolverhampton two weeks ago (1m 1f, Std), but he is now upped into a tougher race and has a 4lb rise to contend with. Clearly an improving sort though and as a five year old better can be expected yet, with today’s conditions to suit. Very interesting to note that Silvestre De Sousa takes the ride for Ed Dunlop and he shouldn’t be underestimated in this, so has to be considered.

4 VAN HUYSEN – Twice a winner over C&D in December and he has ran well in defeat on all three runs since, finishing third off today’s mark over C&D two weeks ago. On that evidence he certainly needs more for win purposes, still 6lb above his last winning mark and others are evidently better treated than him. Possibly place contender over a C&D he is clearly very proficient at but others make more appeal for win purposes today.

5 BANDITRY – Won his last two runs on the flat, winning a competitive looking race at Chelmsford on his last run in this discipline back in October (1m 2f, Std). He has since run two solid races over timber and returns to the level 5lb higher than his last winning mark. A lightly raced five year old, it’d be a surprise if he didn’t still have improvement left in the locker for Ian Williams, with Stevie Donohoe taking the ride today. He has to potential to progress past these and has to be respected.
