2.40pm Cork Tips & Betting Preview 06/11/2016

Just the 5 novice chasers line up for this Grade 3 but they count among them a World Hurdle runner up and one of the most progressive mares in Ireland going head to head.

IN SUMMARY:  Alpha Des Obeaux ran a stormer in the World Hurdle in March, only finding the superstar, Thistlecrack, too good.  He learnt plenty from his chasing debut when behind WESTERNER LADY but this step down in trip isn’t ideal for a resolute galloper.  As such, Ruby Walsh may be able to dictate the fractions on the mare and steal this from the front.  Jetstream Jack has potential for better over the bigger obstacles but like the favourite he may find himself ideally suited by more of a stamina test.

1 Deans Road – Well beaten by Westerner Lady last time out but a 12l beating of Tiger Roll the time before suggests that his most recent race may not have been his true running.  He is giving weight all round here so even if back to his best, that may not be good enough.

2 Alpha Des Obeaux – Got to within seven lengths of an eased down Thistlecrack when runner up in the World Hurdle.  Comfortably beaten by Westerner Lady on his chasing debut but made no mistake second time over fences at Thurles in October.  The step down to 2m4f is a negative however with his best form coming over further.

3 Jetstream Jack – Kept decent company over hurdles and made no mistake when scoring on his chase debut.  A lot from the Elliott yard have needed that first run and he should have plenty more to come over fences, albeit likely over a slightly longer trip.

4 Westerner Lady – A winner of 8 of her last 9 starts, she effortlessly made it 3/3 over fences when beating both Deans Road and Alpha Des Obeaux last time.  Her main danger is entitled to get a lot closer to her now that he has got chasing experience but from the front she may be hard to catch with Mouse Morris’s horse ideally suited by further.

5 Thanks For Tea – Looks to have an awful lot on her plate on the balance of form but there is €800.00 up for grabs for a safe and sound 5th.
