2.35pm Huntingdon Tips & Betting Preview 01/10/2016

Our race preview takes a look at an intriguing Handicap Hurdle at Huntingdon. See our betting tips below to discover a horse who may well just out class today’s field with his experience.

IN SUMMARY: Fact Of The Matter will be the main topic of the race as he won his chase debut by 2l and has a lot of scope for improvement. However, judging by previous form he isn’t a type to derive much improvement from race to race and a chance is taken on TANGOLAN. O’Brien’s gelding ran two good efforts at Perth last month and this slight step down in trip looks in his favour, and although top weight, he may well be too good for this field.

1 TANGOLAN – Ran two good efforts in defeat last month at Perth, the best of which came over a similar trip to this at the start of that month (2m4f, Good). Has run three times at this track and although the first effort was poor, his form line here reads 512 and clearly quite likes it around Huntingdon. Top weight shouldn’t be a problem for him and he may well be too good for this field if stringing together a good jumping performance.

2 MILES NAUTIQUE – Certainly holds no secrets from the handicapper with two similar efforts at Stratford and Uttoxeter on his last two runs. However he does have room to improve as he is quite lightly raced over fences with the King yard in decent form so should make a bold bid.

3 FACT OF THE MATTER – Made a pleasing chase debut when winning at Worcester in early September by 2l (2m4f, Good). On the bare form that would put him in with a huge shout as with natural progression he should be up to taking this. However, judging by Bumper and Hurdle form, he doesn’t seem to improve much from run to run, which is a big concern. Too risky to back at most likely short odds.

4 GAMALIN – Been a mix bag over fences with some good and bad efforts in equal measures. Latest win came back in February at Fakenham (2m5f, Good to Soft) but latest effort at Towester was pretty flat (3m, Good). Is best with give under foot and he hasn’t run since May, so will probably need this.

5 DEFINITE FURTURE – Has been running well since the addition of blinkers and notched up a 2nd win in 3 starts at Uttoxeter latest (2m4f, Good). No reason to suggest he shouldn’t make another bold bid for victory with Richard Patrick taking 7lb off again.

6 KNIGHT’S PARADE – Would have a chance on the back of his 50/1 4th at Bangor back in July, but that was over hurdles and has been obliging to disappoint more often than not, and last chase runs earlier in the year weren’t exactly fantastic. Has plenty to prove and not recommended today.

myracing Forecast Prices: 7/4 Fact Of The Matter, 2/1 Definite Future, 4/1 Tangolan, 5/1 Mille Nautique, 10/1 Gamain, 33/1 Knight’s Parade
