2.10pm Leicester Tips & Betting Preview 13/08/2017

Sad to see such a small field to kick off the Leicester card on Sunday afternoon, with more than £4,500 on offer to the winner of this six furlongs handicap. Our expert tip and runner by runner preview is below.

IN SUMMARY: PEACHEY CARNEHAN has been in smart form in recent runs, now four pounds lower than when beaten a nose at Haydock on Thursday. Soft ground is no concern and if in the same heart once more, he is going to be difficult to beat. Blue Rocks was behind him at Haydock, shaping as if this stiffer track would be in his favour, he may get a little closer to the selection than the three lengths he was beaten by on Thursday. Naralsaif is the least exposed in the line-up and can get involved providing the ground dries out a little more.

1 LIGHTOLLER – Not the easiest horse to win with, belatedly breaking his duck at Bath in June. That came on firm ground, taking his record to just 1/20 since despite running with credit. Third on good to soft the last twice, finding trouble at an early stage when seen earlier this month. The best of his form has been at slightly shorter and with this his first try on genuinely soft ground unless it dries out, he is passed over from a win perspective.

2 PEACHEY CARNEHAN – Has bounced back to form since joining the yard of Michael Mullineaux, winning at Doncaster before narrowly going down under a penalty at Haydock on Thursday. With that penalty expiring he is now four pounds lower than at Haydock and with no concerns over the trip or going, he is very much the one to beat this afternoon.

3 HISAR – Began the year showing consistency over trips from six furlongs to a mile in a hood. He has been tried in cheekpieces the last twice, they failed to bring about any improvement so connections try blinkers now. He had no problems with soft ground at Newbury in May but is yet to get his head in front so despite the interest back sprinting, he is tough to be confident about with the Ron Harris yard struggling for form.

4 WHO TOLD JO JO – A winner over five furlongs at Windsor in April, he has struggled badly for form since. Blinkers are fitted today in the hope they will spark him back to life, but he was last when tried in cheekpieces two starts ago so they are far from certain to work. Cut in the ground is no issue for him but six furlongs has looked to stretch his stamina in the past, a serious concern on this stiff track.

5 BLUE ROCKS – Appreciated the softer ground when fifth at Haydock on Thursday. Three lengths behind Peachey Carnehan on that occasion, he has a little to find to reverse with that rival, but he did keep on well to the line. He has been tried over seven furlongs earlier in the season so this stiffer track should suit him and by Indesatchel, this softer ground could see him in a better light as well.

6 NARALSAIF – Sole filly in the line-up, she improved for the move into handicap company and first time headgear last time out. The better showing also coincided with the best ground she has encountered on turf which raises a slight question mark, She is however the least exposed in the field and as such is entitled to improve further.
