2.00pm Kempton Tips & Betting Preview 21/11/2016

A strong field turn up for this Mare’s Hurdle which carries a first prize of £14,238 in the feature at Kempton today. Read on for our experts’ thoughts and betting tips.

IN SUMMARY: Jessber’s Dream will be a popular runner amongst punter’s today and hopes will be high she can get off to a winning start after changing hands for a hefty sum in the summer. Her trainer continues to fire in winners at an alarming rate of knots and she will give it a good go with conditions expected to suit. A chance is taken however on SURTEE DU BERLAIS, who was a winner 3 times as a Novice last year and looks the type to continue improving this time around. Her trainer is particularly adept with horses of this nature and this daughter of High Chapparral can make her presence felt in this line-up.

1 Jessber’s Dream – Trained by Harry Fry last season before being exchanged for £190,000 in the summer. Won a Grade 2 event at Sandown in February easily accounting for her field by 8 lengths from Katie Too from Alan King’s yard. Followed that up with a 13 length 2nd behind the highly rated McManus horse Jer’s Girl. That’s useful form and she has joined the Champion Trainer so chances will be high she can make a winning debut today despite going up in trip. Will love the mud and big player in these conditions.

2 Morello Royale – Two-time C&D winner including this race a year ago when beating Polly Peachum from Nicky Henderson’s yard by 2 lengths although she is 8lb higher today from that mark. Unable to follow up next time at Sandown and then struggled in the same sponsor’s race at Cheltenham won by Vroum Vroum Mag, finishing 13th. Her yard remains in very good form but tough ask on seasonal re-appearance.

3 Ron’s Dream – Showed useful enough form last year that culminated in a win in a 3m Handicap Hurdle at Ayr in April. Will improve for seasonal debut and will like the ground, will surely win races this year but may find one or two too good in this.

4 Magic Money – Finished runner up in 2 Handicap Hurdles so far this season at Newcastle and then Uttoxeter last month. Soundly beaten on both occasions and hasn’t won since landing a 9 runner event at Bangor in March. Wears cheek-pieces for the first time today and looks uo against it in this company.

5 Miss Crick – Won four times already this term, a Maiden hurdle event at Worcester in May easily by 8 lengths and then following up with a 2 ½ length victory in a Mares Novices Hurdle at Ffos Las in June. 2nd next time out at Uttoxeter before back-to-back wins at Newcastle (nse) and then Worcester (8 lengths) in Handicap events. Finished 3rd in a Listed event last time out at Wetherby in an event won by Stephanie Frances from Dan Skelton’s yard. Sure to go well but the worry is she has been on the go already over the summer and on the forecast ground she may struggle to contain these upped in trip for the first time.

6 Run Runctions Run – Previously trained by Tim Easterby and run mainly in Chases last term. Didn’t really handle her fences that well at Market Rasen on first start for this yard over fences at the start of the month. May fare better back over hurdles but others look more likely on this occasion.

7 Surtee Du Berlais – Won 3 times last season landing back-to-back victories at Warwick scoring by 4 ½ lengths on Good/Sft and then Uttoxeter, where she comfortably beat the well-backed favourite Tara Flow of Venetia Williams by 5. Finished up the year with a victory in a Novice’s event here in April, getting up to beat Via Volupta over 2m5f by a neck. Bred to be a stayer and clearly versatile ground wise, her trainer excels in bringing-on these types and should find today’s conditions ideal. Big player.
