2.00pm Doncaster Tips & Betting Preview 07/07/2017

Fifteen juveniles head to post for the Doncaster opener over seven furlongs. Read on for our runner by runner guide and expert tip.

IN SUMMARY: Mutakatif sets a clear standard from the five horses with experience but he has been beaten as favourite both times he has run, including at 4/7 last time so doesn’t appeal as one to be taking a short price about here. JUNGLE ROOM impressed at the Craven Breeze Up Sales, horses with that experience are often sharper than other newcomers. His damline is stunning, making him the clear pick of the newcomers and the one with which to oppose a too short favourite. At huge prices, the selection’s stablemate and Sandytown and She’s Different make a little appeal and could make an impression on the places.

1 BOMBSHELL BAY – Yard know the family well having trained the dam and three half siblings. Both his dam and two of those relatives won as juveniles, including one on debut so he should make up into a winner sooner rather than later but gone are the days of backing the Richard Hannon horses first time out, they tend to come on for a run now rather than ready to go first time when Senior was in charge.

2 DAZZLE GOLD – The Robert Cowell team are in rude health at present, though they are just 1/7 with juveniles. Half sibling, Cry Of Freedom was a juvenile winner over this trip with Mark Johnston, but Dazzle Gold’s full sister was a mile and a half winner in Canada so he might be better off further down the line.

3 JUNGLE ROOM – A cheap purchase as a yearling, he made a fine impression at the Craven Breeze Up sales, the hammer dropping at 210,000 guineas. His dam is a half sister to Rossini who was a Group 2 winner in France as a juvenile as well as Elusive Quality, sire of Raven’s Pass, Smarty Jones and Sepoy to name but three. He’s beautifully bred and looks the pick of the newcomers, that could be enough to see him make a winning debut.

4 MAKE GOOD – Half sibling to a couple of winners at six and seven furlongs, but the David Brown yard are having a quiet time of things with their juveniles this season so looks more one for nurseries in time.

5 MEARING – One of the five who already has racecourse experience, shaping with promise at Wetherby on soft ground on debut. The surface probably played to his stamina strengths on that occasion given his middle distance pedigree. He ran flat with more of a speed test at Kempton last time but will likely be seen to better effect after this run with a handicap mark.

6 MURAADEF – Plenty of 10-14f winners in his damline to suggest that he is going to need more of a test to be seen to best effect. Kodiac may inject a bit more speed into the pedigree but Ed Dunlop doesn’t have many first time out winners so is best watched for future reference.

7 MUTAKATIF – First string for owner Hamdan Al Maktoum with Jim Crowley in the plate, he has been runner up on both his starts so far, sent off favourite both times. Is a full brother to Harbour Watch (retired after an unbeaten juvenile campaign) so better is likely to be forthcoming. He sets a clear standard of those who have run, but probably isn’t one to be taking a very short price about..

8 NOBLEMAN’S NEST – Boasts three juvenile winning half siblings, including one on debut so looks a likely type for a yard who have done well with their juveniles on limited evidence. The yard aren’t in great form at the moment though which tempers confidence but he does look a 2yo winner in waiting.

9 PICTURE NO SOUND – Full brother is yet to hit the target in sixteen starts, out of a dam who is a half sister to Sword Fighter. Likely to need a little longer to mature, looks more one for back end nurseries.

10 SANDYTOWN – Shaped better on debut than the bare result suggests, losing half the distance he was beaten rearing when the stalls opened. His full brother (Mukaynis) was placed on both starts as a juvenile and now stepped up in trip better is expected. Look likely to out run his price.

11 SUNSTORM – Has a sprint heavy damline with five furlong winners galore. By Medicean, connections clearly feel he has taken more of his sire’s stamina than his dam’s speed. He should enjoy the ground as long as it stays quick, but can only be watched on debut with such a conflicting pedigree.

12 WASIM – Despite being by a sprinter, the dam side of his pedigree suggests that a bit further than this is going to suit in time. Ismail Mohammed has just four winners from a hundred and twelve juveniles on turf in the last five years so best to look elsewhere.

13 KYLIE RULES – Showed a little promise on debut, with this step up in trip likely to suit well. Her half brother was a winner over a mile as a three year old so she looks more one who will come to herself in time.

14 SHE’S DIFFERENT – The ninth foal to hit the track from her dam, the other eight are all winners, giving her a tough act to follow. Six of the eight won as juveniles, including two on debut so there is enough about her to suggest that she can score at some point in 2017. The Nigel Tinkler yard wouldn’t be a first choice for a debutante winner (also 0/17 this season with juveniles) but she is certainly one to keep an eye on for the future.

15 THUNDERCLOUD – Yard know the family well but she has shown very little in a pair of starts thus far, will have a better chance once she has a mark.
