.50pm Southwell Tips & Betting Preview 22/11/2016

This should probably boil down to a 2-horse race with £4,205 up for grabs for the winner. Read on for our experts’ thoughts and betting tips.

IN SUMMARY: HAPPY HOLLOW was impressive in 3 bumper wins earlier in the year and while no doubt be hard to beat on his flat debut.  Star Of Lombardy is of interest making her Fibresand debut after a year off and will surely run a big race if ready to go after a year off. Cape Dignity can follow them home.

Happy Hollow – Has won all 3 starts for his yard in bumpers here, at Wetherby and Market Rasen for combined total of over 9 lengths. In control every time he makes his flat debut today and will be tough to beat for a jockey with a good strike-rate with horses of this type for Alan Swinbank.

Mexican Jim – Previously trained by Tony Carroll and only had 1 run. Well down the field that day finishing 11th of 14 and doubt will do any better today.

Thenobleprankster – Only 2 runs so far at Windsor and Chelmsford and last in both. Up in trip today and hard to see him getting involved.

Amadiva – Ran a shocker on return after over 2 years off last month and has shown nothing in four starts for the yard. Best ignored.

Striking Nigella – Finished plum last when 150/1 for Bumper debut back in March and has practically filled the same spot in all of her 5 runs since with the exception being an11th of 15 finish at Thirsk on her last start. Improvement does not look forthcoming.

Cape Dignity – Two runs for Hugo Palmer so far and followed up a decent well beaten 3rd  at Newcastle on debut last month with another solid showing when 4th at Lingfield 11 days ago when wearing a tongue-strap. Was well beaten on both starts but has plenty of scope and should be in the mix.

Come Back King – 5 starts for Michael Appleby’s yard who does so well with his horses here. Fair form so far and finished 6th of 12 on his latest start here but wears blinkers today and may find one or two too good.

Unblinking – Ex French recruit who made an average debut at Chantilly in April before being purchased by his current yard. Only 10th of 13 on debut last month at Nottingham and difficult to see a big run here against the top two in the market.

Dream Journey – Previously trained by Charles Hills, this filly was 7th of 13 in her last start. Up in trip today and has been off for 5 months. Hard to fancy chances on comeback.

Notion Of Beauty – Only had 5 races for the yard so far but not shown much so far. Last of 9 in a Fillies’ Handicap at Newcastle 2 weeks ago. Makes Fibresand debut today and probably wouldn’t need to show much to improve against some of these. Market will guide.

Star Of Lombardy – 4 starts for the yard last year and been off the track since. Was a decent 2nd of 8 at Chelmsford on her last start in a Maiden Fillies’ Stakes last November and will not to improve much to get involved today. Should give the likely favourite a race.
