Nigel Hawke’s Donnacha produced a career-best performance to win a good race at Cheltenham in January and subsequent Cheltenham Festival runner-up Jagwar was second on that occasion. A 5lb rise seems pretty fair and there could well be more to come.

Charlie Appleby’s Shabab Al Ahli could hardly have been more impressive when winning on debut at Southwell in February. He put the race to bed with minimal effort and pulled eight-and-a-half lengths clear. The son of Frankel is ready for the step up in grade here.
Classical Allusion showed a good attitude to win a Southwell maiden in September and the second has boosted that form by winning since. Second to Constitution Hill at Kempton after that, the switch to handicaps should suit and the new trip looks like a positive.

Draco Malfoy managed to win a couple of weaker novice hurdles in the winter but failed to fire in a good race at Sandown last time. This race looks easier and having won a point-to-point over three miles, the longer trip here should be to his liking.
Montezin has run very well in all three starts to date and was second twice over 5f before going one better over this trip at Newcastle in November. Handicaps are likely to facilitate further improvement and an opening mark of 78 looks very workable.

Bibe Mus placed in a Listed contest for previous connections and returned to winning ways on debut for Paul Nicholls in a competitive race at Sandown in March. Things didn’t quite go to plan at Cheltenham but this race looks easier and he’s clearly capable of better.
Nicky Richards is in red-hot form at the moment and his runner, Saracen Beau, remains unexposed in handicap company. He won with loads in hand in a lower grade at Doncaster last month and a 7lb rise might not be enough to stop him here.
Colori Forever has only had a couple of starts in handicap company and Marco Botti’s three-year-old absolutely bolted up at Southwell last time out. Due to go up 12lb for that success, he runs off a 6lb penalty here instead, so now is a good time to catch him.
Kim Bailey & Mat Nicholls run Guchen here and the six-year-old has really turned a corner in his last couple of starts. Getting off the mark at Kempton in February, he then followed up with a dominant display at Newbury, scoring by a wide margin, and is one to keep on side.
