Joseph O’Brien sends Count Bezukhov over for this valuable novice and the well bred son of Wootton Bassett is out of a German Oaks winner. He showed a good attitude to get off the mark in a maiden at the Curragh last time out and will appreciate the extra couple of furlongs here.
Charlie Appleby is always the trainer to follow at this meeting and Rebel’s Romance should prove hard to beat. He has eight Group/Grade 1 victories to his name and having won at Meydan last time out, the eight-year-old is showing no signs of stopping.
Morris Dancer showed a significant amount of promise last season and was only just beaten by subsequent Group 1 winner Zavateri at Goodwood. He landed a Listed contest at Salisbury on his first start over a mile and will improve from his seasonal debut at Royal Ascot.

Madam Secretary is Aidan O’Brien’s only runner on the card and she showed clear signs of greenness when third on debut at Listowel in May. The yard’s two-year-olds tend to improve significantly for their first runs and this daughter of Wootton Bassett should follow suit.
The Joker took a while to get the hang of things in handicap company but the penny finally dropped at Sandown last time out. Jane Chapple-Hyam’s colt got off the mark in a competitive race and a 3lb rise should be manageable. Further progress can’t be ruled out here.
Point Of Law has only had three starts to date and he’s entitled to progress with that in mind. He looked smart when winning a maiden at Newbury and was hampered early on when fourth in the Queen’s Vase. That would have been a good learning experience and he’s likely to step forward.
Andrew Balding’s Amir Lehbab made his debut at Newbury last month and he ran a nice race to finish third, just a neck behind the winner. His pedigree suggests that the step up to 7f won’t be a problem and he looks capable of winning races sooner rather than later.
Adaay Of Scarlett was an impressive winner on the Rowley Mile on debut in April and the son of Mehmas produced a career best effort to finish second in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot. That’s the best form on offer and he should go close if producing a similar effort here.
William Haggas’ Thunder Call could hardly have been more impressive when bolting up by six lengths in a Kempton Maiden on his penultimate start and the three-year-old made a seamless switch to handicaps next time, winning a good race at York. There could be any amount of improvement to come and a 6lb rise might not be enough to stop him.
