Joseph O’Brien is having an excellent season so far and his runner Enceladus looks capable of progressing into a useful horse in this sort of grade. The form of his Royal Ascot handicap success has been emphatically boosted since and this looks like a good opportunity for him.

Diamond Necklace is right up there with Ballydoyle’s best three-year-olds this season and she completed a big race double in France when landing the Poule d’Essai Des Pouliches and the Prix de Diane. Clearly she’s a special filly and it would take a big performance to get the better of her here.

Jack Channon’s Decade Of Time is a lightly raced type who could still be ahead of the handicapper. He landed a Nottingham novice in good style on his penultimate start and was second in a good race on handicap debut. It would be no surprise if he goes one better here.

Quantum Power has gone from strength to strength in handicap company this season and Tom Clover’s gelding completed his hat-trick at Newmarket earlier this month. More will be needed now on a 5lb higher mark but he might still be ahead of the handicapper.

Henry de Bromhead’s Gameball looked like a smart prospect when winning a bumper at Ballinrobe last summer and he followed up over hurdles on stable debut at Punchestown after that. Things haven’t quite gone to plan since but he’s on a nice mark, unexposed in handicap company and has the ability to land a decent race.

Andrew Balding landed the King George at the weekend and Wise And Wonderful can add to his tally of winners. She has improved with every start so far and managed to get off the mark in an Epsom maiden earlier this month. An opening mark of 75 looks very workable and further progress can’t be ruled out.

Roger Teal’s Avalon Queen has shown some promise in two starts to date, especially when finishing third at Newbury last time out. The form looks pretty solid and she should be suited by the step up to 7f. She looks capable of winning a maiden and could go close here.

Runswick managed to win an Epsom novice last season and although he took a couple of runs to get the hang of things in handicaps, he was an impressive winner at Carlisle last month. A 6lb rise seems fairly reasonable and he can win more races before the handicapper catches up.

Took advantage of a tumbling mark when landing a 6f handicap at Windsor and went very close in the valuable C&D fillies’ handicap at this festival last year so has proven course form. Weighted to go well.

Won a 6f maiden at this track last August before a fine third in the Group 3 Dick Poole at Salisbury. Needed the return run but looked very smart when winning on handicap debut at Newmarket and is well worth a crack at this now.
