Colin Keane at Kempton
Colin Keane has seven winners from just 17 previous rides at Kempton and he’s set to have six rides at the track on Wednesday. We’ve highlighted a few of his more likely winners.
Crowned has only had two starts so far and the son of Persian Force was far from disgraced on both occasions. Stumbling late on at Nottingham last time out, he’s entitled to take another step forward here and the switch to handicaps could make a massive difference.
The smartly bred Najidi Storm is set to make his debut and he could be one to watch. Juddmonte have had great success with the dam Scuffle and he’s a full-brother to St Leger winner Logician. Obviously he will want further in time but this looks like a good starting point and a big run could be on the cards.
Quadrillion showed potential as a two-year-old last term and, finishing third on debut and runner-up behind a subsequent Group 3 winner. Needing the run at Yarmouth last time out, the switch to handicaps could facilitate some improvement and she’s capable of winning races.
Michael Herrington’s Pontefract strike-rate
Trainer Michael Herrington has a strike-rate of 75 per cent at Pontefract so far this season, with three winners from his four runners, and he’s set to be represented with one runner there on Wednesday. Soames Forsyte has dropped to a nice mark and can make his presence felt.
Tate and Doyle at Kempton
James Tate and James Doyle have a 60 per cent strike-rate when combining at Kempton and the pair join forces with handicap debutante Trust Yourself in the opening race. There were signs of improvement at Windsor last time out and low grade handicaps will suit.
