Wednesday racing: Elliott and Bowen combine and a 2,500,000 gns Kempton runner

Horse racing is in Liam's blood and his biggest passion is jumps racing. He can often be found at his favourite tracks; Chepstow and Cheltenham in the Autumn when the National Hunt action kicks off. In his own words: "I'm often referred to as a walking form book, a trait which comes in handy from time to time. My proudest tipping success to date was landing a whopping 682-1 accumulator at Epsom."

It’s always interesting when Gordon Elliott and Sean Bowen join forces, so the fact that they combine with one runner at Worcester on Wednesday is interesting. Our stat of the day relates to a different trainer and jockey combination at Worcester, whilst there’s also a very expensive runner at Kempton. Take a look at our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

Elliott and Bowen combine at Worcester

Gordon Elliott is one of Ireland’s best trainers and he’s 2/5 at Worcester in the last five seasons. His sole representative there on Wednesday will be ridden by Britain’s champion jockey Sean Bowen.

We’Re Out Of Aces is related to several winners over hurdles, including 10-time winner Thirtyfourstitches, and has only had one start over hurdles so far. She was comfortably beaten back in sixth on that occasion but the three-year-old is entitled to take a big step forward.

Stat of the day

Berkshire-based trainer Jo Davis has a 75 per cent strike-rate at Worcester when joining forces with Gavin Sheehan at Worcester and they are represented by one interesting runner on Wednesday.

Calibos makes her handicap debut in the two-mile novice handicap hurdle at 4.05 and he’s had just the two starts over hurdles so far. A winner on the Flat, he has plenty to find on the evidence of his previous performances over hurdles but low grade handicaps will be a big help.

Expensive purchase alert

Alpinara is a full-sister to Arc winner Alpinista and connections subsequently had to go to 2,500,000 gns to land her at the sales. Sir Mark Prescott trains the daughter of Frankel and she was a winner at the second time of asking, despite showing signs of greenness, at Doncaster last time out. Clearly there’s more to come and it would be no surprise to see her follow up on her all-weather debut.
