Two British raiders at Naas on Wednesday form 57-1 double

Naas Racecourse

Wednesday’s racing comes from six venues, with Bath, Catterick and Lingfield making up the afternoon action. Naas, Leicester and Sandown take over in the evening and we’ll have horse racing tips for all six.

Naas hosts a fantastic card on Wednesday, headlined by a pair of Listed races over the sprint trips. Both the Yeamonstown Stud and Marwell Stakes have British raiders entered, with one horse making a huge 434-mile round trip. You can find all the details of the raiders below, with the double paying 57-1, if you like the travellers angle!

5.20 Naas – Yeomanstown Stud Irish EBF Stakes

Winning two of her four juvenile starts, Mishal Star won both a novice race at Kempton and a handicap at Nottingham before a good fourth in a Newmarket Listed race. Heavy ground won’t have helped her that day, so the effort can be upgraded.

She made a promising seasonal reappearance at Chelmsford in April, finishing fourth in another competitive Listed race, but two subsequent starts have been well below her best. She did have a wound to her right fore when well beaten at Sandown last time, though a prior run at Newbury is harder to excuse.

The return to a big-field sprint could be just what she needs, however. Her best form doesn’t leave her with much to find and the ground is certainly in her favour. Tom Ward’s string are among the winners at present and if she replicate her Chelmsford effort, or any of her juvenile form for that matter, she’ll be a strong each-way player.

5.50 Naas – Arqana Irish EBF Marwell Stakes

To say Sophie’s Star has the experience edge in this field would be an understatement. Karl Burke’s charge has run on six occasions thus far, with Orinoco River the next in, having run on three occasions.

She’s won two of those aforementioned starts, winning under a penalty at Beverley earlier this month for the latter. Under a huge weight over the same course and distance last time, she ran her heart out, finishing a narrow second.

After that run, she’s now rated 90, which entitles her to a place in this line-up. She’ll certainly need a career-best to be winning this, but she’s thoroughly uncomplicated and Chris Hayes is a strong jockey booking. With conditions to suit, it would be no surprise if she took this contest.
